Readoption costs in NY
We are being quoted $2500 which is much more than I anticipated. I went to our local family court (Westchester County) and picked up the forms in hopes of doing it myself, but it just seemed like tons of complicated paperwork.
Boy, do I wish we had visited so we wouldn't have to deal with this I was told all along it was "no big deal" to re-adopt. Does it vary that much by state? Thanks so much.

That seems a bit high!
We readopted in California and filed the actual paperwork ourselves and it cost around $210. Our homestudy agency told us what forms needed to be filled out,how to fill them out, where to file them and set up a court date.
Had we gone the the route of hiring an attorney, we were told it would have cost us between $1,200-1,400.

Readoption in NY
I am in Buffalo(erie county) We did it ourselves, I made a few mistakes but when we got down to the court house they showed me what to change.

Our fees, using an attorney to do all the paperwork for us was $750....my husband wants us to do the paperwork ourselves this time around for our second, but I'm voting "NO" as it was worth the money to avoid errors and more paperwork!
Shop around for an attorney who will do it for cheaper - $2500 seems WAY overpriced. Nadia
