Question Way OT: Peanut Butter, Reese Peanut Butter Cups and Mountain Dew

Hello Everyone,

Does anyone know if in the Guat Grocery Store, or any other stores, they sell peanut butter (Jiff, Skippy, but not the all natural), Reese Peanut Butter Cups or Mountain Dew?

Thanks,
Tracy

(my timeline is so long you don't want to see it, it would depress you)

I don't know but I can ask our foster family and have an answer for you in a day or two?

I don't know the answer, but your post gave me a giggle! We lived in England for a while and anyone was more than welcome to come visit us and stay as long as they would like, but they had to bring a jar of Jif peanut butter, and Oreos! There are just some things you've got to have!

Hope someone has an answer for you!

I have a friend that travelled to Switzerland for work quite a bit and she said the same thing. The people there would ask her to bring peanut butter and oreos. Actually, I am asking because I might bring these as gifts for the family on my pick up trip.

I actually had a very easy time finding oreos at the grocery store in Nicaragua; they were very readily available. They might be as easy to find in Guatemala as well.

I'm not sure about the peanut butter , but we have friends who are missionaries in Guatemala , so we asked what they wanted us to bring that they miss from the U.S. and she said PLEASE bring my husband some mountain dew.
So I assume you can't buy it there.

Food

My daughter went on a mission trip in Honduras and they ask everyone to bring a two liter or a six pack of Mountain Dew packed in their suitcase and a Cincinnatian special - Skyline chili - you can buy in a can !
Mexico had wonderful chocolate when I was there on a mission trip but I have heard Guatemala does not have much chocolate !

I am a Mt. Dew addict and have been to Guatemala 4 times - I searched high and low every time, and even asked the hotel staff, and never found it!! I don't think it's available there - only Coke, Coke "Light", and Sprite.

I agree. We were there in August and I thought my husband was going to cry when he figured out that there was no Mt. Dew. We did find Pepsi though. I took Chocolate to our Foster mom on our visit trip and she was very thankful.

The peanut butter, candy, cookies etc. are all available at the supermarket I went to, called Paiz. Since they are imported, they are expensive, so the average family wouldn't buy them very often.

I didn't see Mt. Dew while there, but they do have other sodas and they are not expensive (Coke, Pepsi, Sprite, Fanta).

LOL! I saw the topic line and thought "she's speaking my language!" Diet Dew is the only soda I buy for myself in my house. I NEVER allow myself to EVER run out of Reese's PB Cups or PB .
