older child

I am a single considering adopting a 3rd child (older). Is there any reduced fee when adopting thru an orphanage? When I adopted my first from Mexico, there was some reduction due to her age. I don't recollect hearing anything like this coming from Guatemala?

We found the little girl we are adopting on a photo listing. When I called the agency handling her case, I asked if there was a reduced fee because she is an older child. They did reduce the fee. I guess the best thing to do is ask your agency.

I agree, ask the agency placing the child. Often it is not based on how old the child is but your income or means to adopt the child. If there is another suitable family or person that can afford to adopt the child they might place her/him there. Usually fees are reduced to make it possible for some one to adopt a waiting child that other wise could not be adopted because the family does not have adequate funds. Sometimes an agency will /can not reduce their fee but the attorney or orphanage does. Some agencies have special funds that people donate to them for this purpose. Anna
