Readoption ??
Can you do it yourself? Is it hard? Do you HAVE to use a lawyer? Anyone do it themselves in Illinois?

You can do it yourself; how easy it is varies from state to state. Try looking online on your county website to see if they have the paperwork you need to file. The cost for all the readoption filing fees is $292 here in FL; the cost probably varies from state to state--you could contact your clerk of courts to discover the cost in your county.

In my state, Ohio, the rules regarding it vary by county. In my county, the use of an attorney is required. We met with an attorney a couple of weeks ago to get started.

check your state procedures. We did it here in MD, Baltimore County and we just had to send a letter asking for the process, then we received a call with the appointment. Nothing to pay, no attorneys, it was great!
