Exclamation Possibly Fostering in Antigua - Need Housing with Internet Access?

Had a long discussion with my Agency today - and I'm now considering fostering Sabrina in Antigua if we don't get out of PGN by the end of the year. Which unfortunately is looking quite possible

I'm negotiating with my employer to allow me telework from Antigua starting in January 2007. But I would need to find a furnished rental with Internet access. Does anyone have any recommendations? I work for "Uncle Sam" and for security purposes, I can't work from an Internet cafe. I know some of our Forum friends are in Antigua now. How difficult is it to get Internet access? Also what is the going rate for in-home childcare?

Any insights are appreciated

There are lots of housing options with internet access, including B&Bs and apartments and small hotels. I paid approximately $3/hr for a ninera to care for my son...she also did some household work.

I have no advice but just wanted to tell you that I hope this works out for you. It is so hard to be away from our little ones. I hope that this doesn't drag out until the end of the year.

About a month ago there was a thread on fostering that referenced a wonderful website put together by two women who help with fostering info. It was a spanish word.....
I checked out and found alot of useful info - maybe you could do a seach on the site? It's late, so if I remember later I will PM you. Good luck!

Laura, I'm going to forward you a few emails I gathered when I was inquiring about fostering. I hope they help. Hopefully, you won't need them at all.
