Where did you start in the nursery?

Shamelessly, I love organization. Maybe a little too much, but thats ok...

Where did you start? Did you buy furniture, paint, what? I don't know where to start... lol. I keep thinking, we need to buy bottles, and everything else, but at the same time, I need places to store this stuff!

I started with the bedding stuff.. bumper, skirt quilt. From that I determined the design scheme.. painted the walls, then bought furniture. I really wanted a red crib found that and a matching changing table..ordered it online..then I found great furniture, dresser bookcase nightstand and twin bed frame (it was a group and I got a deal). Then I shopped for stuff.. stroller, some kitchen stuff, sheets, blankets a little bit of clothes, bath toys..stuff that I would need regardless of his age when he got here. All I still need is a rocker/glider, diapers and formula. The only problem is that I did it so early. I am totally done..have been since August and now I am just waiting. I wish I had spread it out more. Now there is a room in my house that I never go into because it makes me sad.

Good luck!

bedding

I acutally found material first and a good friend made my bedding, window treatments etc. From there it went full force! :-)

I knew I wanted to paint the sky on the ceiling. I started with that. I painted the ceiling blue and then painted white clouds. I then picked out bedding and then did white "shabby chic" furniture to match. My parents were very pesimstic about me having the nursery done before I was out of PGN. I was so glad I didn't listen. I had PINK in a week and I was traveling in 9 days of being notified I was out of PGN. If I would have waited, there is no way I could have gotten any of it done.

I had everything completed about 6 weeks before she was home.

Okay, I love organization too!!! Peter Jack's room is pretty much done, except for the mural that my brother is starting, tomorrow as a matter of fact

This is how we started:

Replaced carpeting with hardwood floors
Painted room my favorite baby's room color: Sage
Drapes - Ocean Blue w/brushed nickel airplane rods
Furniture - Cherry wood crib, changing table w/hutch, tall dresser and bombay dresser
Purchased the matress and comforter set TODAY!!!
The Nursery's theme is Peter Rabbit, my brother will begin the mural tomorrow, and I can't wait!

So that's how we did it, I walk in there several times a day, I dance with Peter Jack's pictures and dream about holding him in my arms soon!

Great thread

Judy

I started with bedding and a theme. Everything just grew from there.

I started by stenciling a heart border around the room and setting up the crib and bedding.

Hi there!

We are just getting started! So far, we have purchased the bedding, the matching valances and a matching ceiling mobile. Right now, the room is being used for another purpose, so before we get started with decorating, we want to replace the windows in the room, sand the finish the wood floor, replace the doors with six panel white doors and then jump right in to decorating!

God bless, Tera

Where to begin...

We're not even near "the process"! But I started when my mother-in-law cased a garage sale a few doors down.
She came back and made me check out the nursery items that my neigbor was selling. It was an amazing deal and awesome condition... too good to pass up. Painted white furniture: dresser/changing table, four poster crib & mattress (but I will get a new one), toddler bed frame, glider with custom cushions, Pottery Barn girls bedding, the mobile and a lamp. All for $300!!!!!!!! My hubby thought I was nuts until I explained that any one furniture item would cost that amount.

Good luck!

Knick knacks got the ball rolling for us. Our family suprised us and did the entire nursery at one point but we kept adding. It was a blast. We have far too much stuff that we never used but oh well! It was fun and time consuming.

Where did we start? We started by clearing all of the boxes and junk out of the room! It was pretty much our catch-all, just throw it in there, keep the door closed room. (This step isn't completely done but we have lots of time. I'm saving it for when I get really antsy during the wait for her.)
I bought a baby quilt on e-bay as our first purchase. I've picked up little things here and there. I'm not a theme kind of person so I'm just trying to find things that I like.

I'm an organization nut... so first, painted and installed closet organizers. Mural will be next, dresser purchased and already started filling the closet with a couple couldn't resist outfits

Started with the "big pieces" that I had (crib) and that which I would need, dresser, "changing table"/dresser (convertible that we ended up with). To this day haven't ended up with much more except toys and books!.
