Hello All,

I am asking for some prayers for our family. We have received a financial blow that may make our adoption impossible. We were so close to filing those papers, and it looks like another dream may fall by the wayside. Since we both are in our early 40s, this may be our last chance.
I am hoping that those of you that believe in prayer can add my family to your prayers. We both believe that there is a child waiting for us who needs us, and hate to have finances become our only stumbling block.
Please, God, help us solve our financial problem so that we may bring our child home.

I read time and time again where families, somehow, are able to overcome the financial obstacle of adoption. I really hope you can find a way! Keep us updated.

I'm sure you've already looked into it but remember, there are numerous places out there that can help financially. I've listed a few on the Guatemala Adoption Blog but there are so many more as well. Please keep us updated.

Don't give up hope!!! My husband and I had a very unusual situation. We tried numerous times to get a loan. Finally, we went to a credit union to receive one. My mother refinanced her mortgage for us (long story, there) to help us... If you are in PA or around PA, PM me they may be able to help you!

Don't forget about doing fundraisers. I've seen quite a few families do cookbooks. If you have some kind of craft that you do well, you can sell it on Ebay.

I have seen some people try liquidating assets, selling cars, boats, "Toys"... Asking family for loans/gifts...2nd mortgage... adoption loans.. Someone on the forum today is talking about their Fund Raising Garage Sale this weekend...

I Believe where there is a will, you will find a way!

I'm so sorry to hear this. I'm praying for you and your family. Hopefully you'll be able to solve that financial problem of yours to bring home a child soon.

I Checked Out The Adoptionblog But I Could Not Find The Area Where You Give Resources For Financing An Adoption. Can You Please Tell What Article It's Under Or Where To Find It. Thanks!

Also Renee, I Will Pray For You. I'm Too Having Problems Raising The Money For My Girls. I'm Still Short A Lot! I've Looked Into Grants But Many Of Them Only Consider Couples, So That Has Put Me At A Dis-advantage. However, You Would Probably Be Able To Apply For Them.

There Are Also Adoption Loans Out There Too And Refinance Is An Option, I'm Doing That. There's One Program Where They Encourage You To Raise Money And They Will Meet The Money Raised Up To $4,000. I Sold My Car And Lots Of Other Things To Get To Where I Am Now In My Adoption. I'm Borrowing A Car When I Get Back! If At All Possible, To Even Get The Initial Amount Together For Your Baby, I Would Push Very Hard To Do It Asap

I think everyone has great advice and I wanted to add a very, very last chance option and that is low-interest credit cards that are specifically for adoption. I don't know the rules surrounding them but if you have to, they are out there.

Thank you to everyone who has responded to me post. Besides all of the great advice, it is such a solace to know that so many people care.
Please know that I remember all of you in my daily prayers also.
I will check out the information that was sent to me and we won't give up. My worry is primarily that we will be too late, so that is why I'm so stressed. I have to believe that things will work out.

I was also very concerned early in our adoption process about money. We are I think one of the rare, non-home owning adopters, so refinancing wasn't an option for us. But, we figured it out and I'm hoping you're able to as well.

Try and hang in there.....Put your thinking cap on and check out the internet for anything that will help you to get to your baby....it will all be worth it when your holding your baby in your arms!!!

When on the adoption blog, there are categories to the right. Down near the bottom is adoption financing. It is broken down by fundraising, grants, and loans. Hope it helps. Hearing this has inspired me to make that list much better. Hopefully I can make it fairly comprehensive and updated as there are definitely more out there than I have written about. My personal first choice is Gift of Adoption Fund. They were great to work with.
