Marriott vs. Quinta Real

Anyone stayed at each that may offer comparison info? We are leaving Friday and stayed at the Marriott twice. Our attorney is suggesting the Quinta Real (this is NOT the Westin Camino Real) because he believes it to be safer, nicer and quiter. We are bringing out 13 month baby to visit our 7 week old baby.

If you go back in the threads (last week) you will find posts on the Quinta Real from a bunch of us that just recently stayed there. Highly recommended!

The Quinta Real is extemely safe and very relaxing. In order to leave the property you will need a taxi. There's nothing of interest to walk to and the entrance is on a divided thouroghfare. To make up for that the property is secluded, larger than others and beautiful. More like an understated resort.

Although they do offer adoption packages the hotel caters to families that tend to be less social and more laid back. Many upper class Guatemalans eat and stay at the hotel so the atmosphere is dignified. The Marriot and others frequented by adoption families are serviceable and functional but the Quinta is exemplary...oh and a bit more expensive.

I actually think the QR is cheaper then the other hotels. $85 for a very nice room with a crib, microwave and bathtub. I also liked it because it was quiet and gave me a chance to bond with my DD. Not much to do but the staff is wonderful. I stayed there 3 times. Make sure to ask for a room on the garden side.

We also paid just $85.00 per night and our room was large and beautiful.
