Need some help with cedula info
I'm trying to figure out exactly where the birthmother is from so I can put all the pieces together for my baby for when he's older. According to the cedula and his birth cert. at the time of the birth, it mentions that she is from Huehuetenango. How accurate is that? My attorney told me she was from Julapa. On the birth cert, it says "nacida en" and on the cedula I can't read what it says before it mentions the town but it's on the left side after it mentions her parents names. I'm not sure now what area/town to research for him.
Thanks Vicki |

Huehuetenango is a department or state. I hate to add to your confusion, but there is another department called Jalapa, and another one called Jutiapa.
I can understand your frustration. I will be very interested in knowing where my baby is from, and having lots of contradictory or inaccurate info must be very confusing. Here is a link to info on the various departments. I don't know what your next steps are, but you might want to contact the attorney again to get more clarification. Guatemala Departments Let us know what you find out!

I found a map with the locations of all of the departments. Huehuetenango is right on the Mexican border. I used to travel through there en route from Mexico to Guatemala.
Jalapa and Jutiapa are in the far south. She certainly did not travel from Jalapa or Jutiapa to use the Huehuetenango hospital, unless she went to spend her pregnancy with family in Huehuetenango or some such thing.Hope this map is helpful. I really enjoyed looking at it and realizing how much of the country I know nothing about! Google Image Result for http://colaboracion.sld.cu/guatemala/mapa%20guatemala.JPG
