Smile Let's be grateful for Embassy employees

A note about Embassy employees--I often see complaints about them. My sister works for the U.S. Embassy in Ethiopia (not for CIS, but another division), and let me tell you, she works her butt off. They are closed a lot of days because they have both U.S. and local employees, so they respect both cultures. However, she is in her office on many holidays/weekends without overtime pay just to get all the paperwork done. She is serving her country, and doing it honestly and well. She has lived in Africa for 6 years now, which has not been easy.

The CIS officials in the Embassy in GC are processing over 4000 adoptions a year. Let's acknowledge everything they do right, instead of only noticing when they make mistakes.

I respect them and yes we should be very thankful for all the hard work they do and 4000 adoptions is alot of paperwork to process in order for our adoptions to be completed. Thanks for the reminder to everyone.

Ellipses Drop them a card...

Hola all,

A U.S. Consulate (in another country) was very helpful and efficient with our adoption. I dropped them a nice card, and sent occasional kids photos afterward. A year and a half later, I missed a scheduled appointment to the same consulate because of a delayed flight. This usually means a week of waiting, but they juggled the schedule and got me in.

Maybe they would have anyway, but I'm sure recognizing and thanking them for their past assistance didn't hurt.

BTW, my experience with the embassy in Guatemala, years ago, was fine. Y2K and a volcano were the biggest issues.
