HOSPITAL ROOSEVELT in GC ?

Does anyone have any information on this hospital in Guatemala City? After two years, I JUST found out that's where my daughter was born. So now of course I'd like to know the exact location, and see any pictures of this hospital.

Please share anything you have!!!!!!!!!!

THANKS!!

Jen

Our son was also born there. We drove by it on a speeding shuttle bus...you get the picture...I didn't. I would google it. I think I have, but can't remember, it's been awhile.

I just read an article about surgery on conjoined twins happening there. I can't remember where I saw the article though. Must be a good hospital for such a surgery though!

Not to be nosey, but were you not given this info with your daughters referral info? why are you just now finding out? I often wonder if our son was born in a hospital..when you look up the name on his birth certificate it says he was born at home.

Our son, Ethan, was born there, as well as our twins, Noah and Emma, that we are hoping to bring home by the end of the month! We went there to take pictures on one of our trips, here they are! Hope that helps! From what I've heard, it's one of the nicer hospitals.

Thanks for posting the photos, Mandie. As I said, we were speeding by, as those who have traveled in Guat City would understand! Have never seen any lane markings. They must wear them off from swirving back and forth over them.

Our son was also born there. We took a tour of the city and our guide took us by the hospital. It was kind of depressing, there were vendors right outside the hospital selling all sorts of things, cheap diapers, etc. Only the woman giving birth is allowed into the hospital, no one else is allowed to support her.

I've attached a not so great picture of the Maternity Ward.

Here are a few someone passed on to me. (Our daughter was born there too.)

I did some research for our daughter's life book and it is the largest hospital in Guatemala.

Wow

Wow, you guys are awesome! Thank you sooo much! I will PM each of you so you can email me the "larger" pixel versions of these photos, if you have them. I would love to print them for Addison's life book (which is not yet underway...!)

Does anyone know what the location is...street wise, address wise?

GREAT help, anyone else!!?

THANKS!

Jen
(now with a better idea of where Addison was born)

Ok, someone asked me why I didn't know my daughter was born at this hospital, much earlier on in the process.

I really didn't have a clue and I ASKED AND ASKED!! I got an official birth certificate that doesn't have a location on it, it just said Guatemala City. Well, it's a big place, right? I'm not sure why or how it came to pass that more than one record of birth was needed or created, but apparently I did not see the ORIGINAL with the hospital, date and time. The date was the same, but I also never knew what TIME she was born. And now I do!

I got all this information back when I had submitted a FOIA request for other reasons, and the dumb people at DHS completely copied my ENTIRE FILE of documents. I have stuff in there that I already own good copies of, but they sent it all again. And as I was poring over the tons of pages, I came across some valuable info that I had never seen or known about before. One of those things was the records of my daughter's birth that I had not even been aware of.

SO, there ya have it!

Anyone else familiar with this hospital!?

Jen

Okay, totally random, but can I get copies of these sent to me too? I was born there 30 years ago this November 6. :-)Thanks for posting these, this is awesome! I can't wait to show my mom, who of course, didn't get anything like this and back in the 70s, you weren't allowed to travel to Guatemala to get your babies (the whole Civil War and all).

Hospital Roosevelt

I do not have any pictures of the hospital, but that is where Gabie was taken after her accident. My agency assured me that the hospital is one of the top hospitals in Guatemala and they had all the equipement necessary to care for her there. My dear friends where in Guatemala last week picking up there little girl and they went to the hospital on 2 different days trying to see Gabie. Jay told me it is a very large hospital and he was quite impressed with the facilities. He said it is very up to date and clean and is a very busy place. Unlike the United States you can only visit patients from 12p-1p every day and each patient can only have 1 visitor. So the first day Rhonda went and Gabie's mom was already there so she couldn't get in to see her. When Jay went back 2 days later, he was on a mission and he wasn't leaving until he got to see her. So be happy knowing your children were born in a very good place.
