Hlep 8 month old schedule

I just took Chase to the Dr. yesterday for his initial visit and it appears that he has lost over 2 lbs in 2 weeks. He isn't much for the bottle I can maybe get him to drink 6 oz at a time 7 if it's a super day.

I am looking for a schedule for bottles and food and how much food you feed them at a sitting.

I thought he was eating pretty good....
He was eating 4-5 tbs of cereal and 1/2 stage 2 fruit for breakfast and then cereal 4 tbs and 1/2 stage 2 veg for lunch and then fruit and cereal for dinner.... he really never seemed like he wanted much more. usually the last 2 - 3 spoons were sneaked in....

I'm afraid I'm starving him by accident

8 months

Have you tried introducing a sipper cup for the formula ? What did the doctor say about him losing weight ? Each child is different at each age. By 8 months by oldest was beginning to eat table food but my youngest was eating about what your little one is eating ! I would try giving him a little cereal or fruit in between the 3 meals.

How many bottles is he taking? If this is the initial visit to the dr., where was he weighed last? Each scale will read differently so it's hard to tell if he has really lost weight. Do his clothes fit the same does he act hungry or fussy? I'd ask the dr. if you could come back in a couple of weeks just to weigh him and make sure that he is picking up weight.

here's our schedule

and my son is almost 8 months old

6:30 7 oz formula

9:30 3T cereal and (all) stage 2 fruit mixed

11:00 6 oz formula

1:30 stage 2 vegetable

2:30 6 oz formula

5:30 stage 2 dinner or meat and veggie mixed

7:15 7 oz formula

We only had trouble with breakfast - until we figured out he likes it cold. We put his fruit in the fridge when he wakes up, and by the time breakfast comes it's nice and cold. I guess it feels good on the gums!

I'm sure your little one is fine - is he cutting any teeth? Mine wasn't very hungry the couple of days that his were really piercing through.

Did you ask the doctor about feeding Chase meats? I think at about that time I started giving John meats, veggies and fruit for lunch and dinner. I started with stage one but then went to stage 2 soon after. At first I only did the meats for lunch and then moved to dinner too.

Also, maybe try giving him the whole fruit at breakfast.

John was inconsistent with his bottles too. Sometimes he would only drink 4 or 5 ounces but then other times would take 8 oz. He had a bottle first thing in the am, one around lunchtime, another in the late afternoon and a final one before bed. Now he only takes 3 bottles a day.

Maybe try some of the baby yogurt too.

My sister gave me a list of when to feed what to babies at different stages that her doctor gave her. I adapted it a little since John only started on cereal when he came home. Let me know if you want a copy.

Our daughter shares the same birthday as your son! We can't get her to take more than a 4 ounce bottle still and she seems to be doing just fine. She takes anywhere from 5-6 bottles a day and then eats a 2nd fruit at lunch and a 2nd vegetable at dinner. She won't touch cereal but I still try it with her every couple of days just in case she changes her mind.

If I were you I'd weigh him again in a couple of weeks - chances are he's just fine. It sounds like you have him on a good schedule.

Good Luck!
Ann

I totally agree with this. If this was his first visit to a Dr in the US I also would ask to come back. Maybe his weight(if he was weighed in Guate prior) wasn't translated correctly. It's very possible! I too would ask to come back in a couple of weeks. It sounds like you're feeding him well. Some babies like 6oz at a time and some scream for more when their 8oz are gone! It's very individual.

Good luck!
