Just curious what the advantage would be. Could we discuss fee-based adoption services, or would it just be a forum with different "sections" to make it easier to keep track of things (i.e. Homestudy Conversations, Refferal Announcements, Pictures, PGN discussion, etc)?
I'm up for whatever!

As we are pursuing an independent adoption, this could be a helpful tool. The group could ask specific questions about current dossier requirements, the process, attorneys we know who will work independent adoptions, how much additional work/running around it requires if any, etc.

I think that by posting on two different forums, one might miss out on something that might affect either type of adoption. However, if you have a questions specifically for independant adoptions, you could just preface that in the thread title you start on this site.
I also would think there would be a lot of double posting on both threads. We all want to know how your case is going whether you are adopting independantly or not. Just my thoughts!

I am such a dummy....I see what you meant by Independent Guatemalan Adoption Forum.
I thought you meant an entire webiste/forum (independent of adoption.com) solely dedicated to adoptions from Guatemala. What you mean is a forum section on this board dedicated to those who adopt independently (without an agency) from Guatemala. In which case it doesn't matter to me because I'm not going that route - but I would love to read how everyone is doing, not just those who are using an agency. LOL, adoption-induced insanity here. *sigh*

The forum would be added to the forums here at Adoption.com - and the title of the forum would be Independent Guatemalan Adoption. I think the big draw would be questions like "What is needed in the Dossier?" wouldn't be answered like 'Every agency is different, wait till you contract with an agency' - because no agency is involved

We are doing #2 independently and wouldn't have it any other way. I would be happy to share what I know and who I know in regards to independent adoption.
