michigan uscis

a question for anyone who has recently received their I-171. we should hopefully be submitting our I-600a this week. we are curious as to how long the detroit uscis is running currently. we would also like to know if you hand delivered your papperwork to the office. we are hoping to do same day fingerprinting, but were not sure if it's possible.

any information you have is appreciated

thank you

samantha

See my timeline below. We sent our form and $ in on 6/29 and I think it was about 7-8 weeks. I didn't turn my form in before my homestudy because my agency doesn't like us to do it for fear they may leave our paperwork. Also, are you using an agency out of michigan? If so (and you don't mind) would you PM me their name - if not no big deal.
Also, if you haven't had your fingerprints done yet I will give you a tip it is in a strip mall and I can't remember the name of the building, but it should be on your fingerprint form so just keep your eyes peeled for it - we drove around for almost 25 minutes looking for the building. We also had our appt. on Sat. (I think that they do them on Wen and Sat.)that was the day we were given and it was very quick and painless.
Hoping for a speedy I-600 A

I had a friend who got her prints done and handed in the homestudy (I think she mailed it) and her 171h was back in about 3 weeks. I was surprised that they are coming back so quickly since they were taking forever in the spring.

According to their website, they will not take your papers in person. I have also not heard of same day fingerprinting from the Detroit office. If I can just give a little advice... make sure you have everything together before you send it in. Also, if you have previous homestudies, you may just want to include them since they are asking for them anyways. We had to re-do our I-171h in June. It took 3 weeks from recipt of papers to fingerprint appointment and then another 5-6 weeks for the actual I-171h. I'm not sure if there is a good average right now. It does however seem to have speeded up since earlier in the year.
If you would like more feedback on this, there is a Michigan International Adoption group on yahoo...let me know if you want me to pm you the actual link. They do keep a database and it has quite a few members on it.
Hope you have a quick wait!
HTH

We sent our 1600A and homestudy in at the end of March, we got our 171H about 7 weeks later, which at the time was considered quick for Michingan. We were told initially to expect 90 days or longer. Good Luck and I hope you get yours back quickly!

I sent my application in without the homestudy in late April. I then forwarded my homestudy in June (don't remember the exact date) on a Monday. I received my fingerprints notice the following Friday (only 5 days!) for early July. My I-171H arrived two weeks after the fingerprint appointment.

Like the other poster said - watch for the strip mall. I was expecting a stand alone building, and didn't initially see the place. Our appointment was for 9 AM, and they were very prompt, we were out by 9:20.

Check out my timeline. I was quite thrilled to recieve it and also shocked. Our agency said to expect 3 months.
