What does "Paper ready" mean?

Does it mean you have all of your documents OR that your are signed with an agency and they are transalted and everything??

Can you be paper ready and not have signed on with an agency yet?

Thanks!

I have found different agenies view paper ready differently. Some say it's homestudy complete and I600A filed. Some say it's homestudy complete, 171H in hand, but the dossier doesn't have to be complete. Some want everything done. Officially I think paper ready means that you have your 171H in hand, dossier completed (certified and authenticated as well), and homestudy completed. You do not have to sign with an agency to become paper ready. It's more difficult to do your dossier without an agency because they all have different requirements, but it's possible. We just signed with an agency and we were nearly paper ready beforehand. We found we may need to redo part of our dossier because our agency requires it a slightly different way. That's no biggie though because it won't take us long.

paper ready

The way I understood it was paper ready (at least as far as my agency goes) meant that my home study was done. I'm not sure if you can be paper ready before you sign with an agency because I was under the impression that every agency has their own way of wanting all of the home study documents done.

Again, this was just my experience so it may mean different things to different people. (I did accept my referral before my dossier was done and was still consdered paper ready.)

I understand it to mean that your dossier is 100% complete, certified by your state and authenticated by the Guatemalan consulate, approved by your agency/attorney, and your have received your I171H from US immigration (USCIS).

Paper ready is all documents including 171-H approval, you can have you dossier ready before sign with the agency, however just remember that some agencys require some different documents, for example my agency is christian based and require a referrence letter from our Pastor.

Usually the 171-H is the longest part because they require the Home Study Completed.

Hope this Helps

yes, I think it is different for every agency.

My agency required everything to be completed--notarizations/authentications, plus home study, I-171H before they would consider giving a referral. I kind of liked it this way because if my paperwork was delayed for some reason along the way, there wasn't a baby waiting on the other end who was getting older day by day. And btw--my agency required my paper work to be PERFECT. I mean PERFECT, PERFECT, PERFECT!!! If they found ANY error whatsoever, it was sent back to me to completely redo. I'm always suprised when I see someone's time line and they are kicked out for a misspelled word--my agency wouldn't have ever let me get that far.

Only THEN would they give a referral.....but it made the time from referral to home quite short and I was in and out of PGN in 2 weeks.

So for my agency, paperready meant everything completed and perfectly done.

Our agency wants everything done... That means everything is authenticated in hand when you want to accept a referral. God truely wants Kiara to be with us, because we were just sending things out for authentication....
