Fingerprints

Ok, so I have a question (newbie here, clearly!)...when you have your fingerprints done, state/FBI level...do you receive any kind of verification? I've had both done, I have my I-171-h (so I did the bcis prints too) but I've never seen anything about the prints at all. I did switch from Russia to Guatemala so I'm completely at a loss. I put in a call to my hs agency and I will also call my cw but if anyone knows...I'd sure appreciate it! Thanks.

When you send your prints to the FBI, they will send you a letter back stating you have no criminal history, along with your prints. You don't have that yet? I hope you attached a letter with your mailing address so they can write you back. If you wrote "for adoption purposes" on the envelope, it should take 1-2 weeks. If you didn't write that, it should take 5-8 weeks for a reply.

The state is that same. They should send you back your cards and a letter stating you have no criminal history. In NC it takes about 1-2 weeks for a response.

All that is part of your dossier. When you recieve all these letters, don't take any staples out (or it looks like they're tampered with).

Thanks....guess I need to contact my homestudy agency. Everything was done electronically, no cards. I think (HOPE) everything was sent to them and they have the originals.

The electronic prints are totally different. Those are for USCIS. That has to do with your I-171H.

The cards become part of your dossier. Check with your agency for sure!

Not every agency has you do fingerprint cards as part of the dossier. Mine doesn't. We just have our local police letter.

What about FBI? I know that's always been one of those uncertain things.

We didn't get anything regarding fingerprints back...
We got electronic fingerprints and our I-171H came to us in the mail, but nothing about the fingerprints. Our criminal background check was done separately - we had to fill out a request form to have this done and we got the request back from the State Police stating we had no record. Not sure how it works in your state.

dspakowsky,

No, we didn't have to submit FBI clearance. If you think about it, that is done in the I-171h process.
Anyway, our agency has never had a problem with PGN with only the local police clearance.
