What do FM's bring with baby, if anything?

This is probably a silly question, but I'm too tired to think straight. Do the foster moms usually bring a couple of favorite bottles, pj's, toys, a can of formula? Obviously, I will pack all of that, and more, but I'm concerned we have the right nipple, bottle type, etc. Is the formula liquid or powder?

When my 3-year-old was Baby Ben's age (6 months) woe be unto you if you didn't have the bottle ready and waiting on demand.

Also, I'm a bit concerned about clothes sizes, since Ben is kind of short and round, so I'm hoping the foster mom gives us a couple of outfits, just in case.

Thanks so much,
Dawn

Ours brought everything, but we were told not to count on it. I brought everything just in case, except formula. We were told specifically that she would bring that because they don't like you to change their diet while you're there.

If anything IS about it.
Each time: 4 different trips, 2 different babies
1 bottle, 1 can of formula and the clothes on their back.
I came prepared- but some families had some major shopping to do- after the initial shock wore off.
Good Luck,
TLC

PS. I took an extra bag and gave all the leftover diapers, formula, clothes etc. to the fostermom. She seemed very pleased with the items.

My daughter always came packed with clothes, toys, diapers, bottles, formula, etc., but as the others have said, dont' necessarily count on it.

Hi Dawn,

Our Foster Mom brought a bottle, most of a can of formula and the (many) clothes Mia was wearing on her body that day! She told us what cereal she was eating and we bought some there. I wished I had a spoon and bowl! (By the way, if he is on cereal, you might want to buy some extra and wean him slowly. Mia spit out our cereal for almost 2 weeks. The stuff we bought there was a lot sweeter.)

When I asked about favorite toys, she seemed surprised. Judging by Mia's reaction to the rattles we brought, I doubt she had ever seen one. It is nice to have some of the Guatemalan toys from the gift shop anyway! And they have all sorts of things there you might need.

I'm so excited for you!!

Toni

Ours brought her bottle and the clothes she was wearing! And the disposable cameras we had sent down previously for her to take pictures of Lila for us.

My son came with one bottle and the clothes he was wearing. He was 17 months old at my visit and luckily I had brought juice and a sippy cup because after the initial bottle the foster mom brought for him, he refused to drink from a bottle nor did he like the taste of the formula I had brought (they apparently sweetened his formula a lot). We survived the visit and when he came home I discovered he would drink milk if mixed like a smoothie with strawberry yogurt.

Definitely come prepared for the needs of your little one and if your foster mom brings a lot of stuff you can just leave the extra items with her when you leave.

For our visit she brought 2 bottles, powder formula, cereal, diapers, the clothes and doll we had sent down, and a typed out schedule of feeding, napping, bathing, bed, play and tv time. Not that I could read it since it was in spanish. Just had to go by what I remembered the translator telling me it said.
Hope to see your PINK post soon.

For the visit trip our foster mom brought 1 bottle ready to go, diapers, 1 can formula, a blanket, and the clothes my daughter was wearing that day. On the pickup trip she brought 1 bottle and let me keep her blanket.

All babies are different but my daughter didn't care what bottle or nipple I used. Just in case I would bring gerber bottles with slow or medium flow nipple. If your baby is picky you can always keep washing the bottle the foster mother brought.

Have an awesome visit trip.

Lisa

On my visit and pickup trip my son's foster mom brought 1 bottle already mixed and that was it. I had to immediately go to the concierge and ask for his milk from the pharmacy and they delivered it to my room. But I also was warned not to expect much, so I brought everything I could think of. I left most of it with her at the visit trip so she was well stocked

2 bottles: one for formula/one for cereal
2 diapers
1/2 full can of formula
cereal

If you would need anything (if staying at the marriott) the gift shop carries some things and there is a pharmacy across the street that will deliver to your room. (The front desk will help with that)
Luke fit into 3-6 month clothes is weight @ his 5 month check up was 14pounds 7 oz and his height is 24.7. But the next time we go I expect him to be more into 6-9. Bottle type that foster mother brought was gerber not the fancy ones. But I brought what I'm going to use at home (dr. browns) which the nipples are not the same and he took both just fine.
Have an awesome time. When are you going we are going back Aug 31 - Sept 4.

Like Everyone else we were told to be prepared and thankgoodness we were. We received, one bottle about enough formula for 1 bottle (thank goodness we brought some) and a onsie outfit I had sent that didn't fit anymore. No toys nothing else. She did bring his hospital bracelet that he was wearing when she received him. I thought that was sweet of her. She didn't have to but she did. Very sweet of her.

I hope this helps. Be prepared. You just never know.

As most of the other posters have said, DDs foster mom brought one bottle, the clothes she was wearing, and a blanket. I had brought plenty of clothes and some toys with me, which I gave to her FM when she picked her up. You can purchase diapers and formula when you get there, no need to pack them (particularly the formula -- even if you purchase the same brand in the states, it supposedly tastes a little different from the version sold there.)

Baby Girl's Fostermother brought a tiny bit of formula, one bottle, and one diaper - that's it.

Baby Boy's Fostermother brought a whole can of formula and a dufflebag full of diapers, toys, and clothes.

I think it really depends.
