We received bad news today
All:
Dh and I had been hoping to adopt our son's birthsibling from Guatemala. The baby was due sometime in August and we'd been awaiting word and pulling together paperwork. Our agency called today with bad news: we won't be able to adopt the child. We also found out that Jonah has another sib, born sometime a year or 18-months after he was and we didn't have any idea about that child, either. The family who is parenting that little girl is going to adopt Jonah's youngest sibling and for that, we're very grateful, though sad, too. We're mourning the opportunity to parent his sibling, but ultimately believe that it worked out for the best, and I just want to say something to that other family in case they read here: If you're parenting a little girl, just accepted the referral of her sibling who is a little boy born in the past few weeks, and their birth mom's initials are SC, PLEASE read this. We asked your attorney to please help us get in touch with you, but for the sole purpose of helping the kids stay in touch as they grow older. We understand that you only want what we did: to parent your little girl's brother, and we would NEVER get in the way of your adoption of that child. Your attorney refused, we suspect because they are worried that we're going to try to adopt this child ourselves. Please, even if you don't feel comfortable until after the little boy's adoption is complete, save this post and PM me when it's over. All we want is for Jonah to be able to know his sibs as they grow up. My best to the family adopting Jonah's sib. While we're very sad, we understand and respect your joy during this process. I'm so sorry for your disappointment. I think it's great that you want all of the kids to know each other, though. Saying a prayer that you will have peace and that if there is another child for you that you will find him or her when the time is right.

Our little girl also has a birthsibling, a brother, about a year older then her. We contacted the agency that his parents used when they adopted him, and our info was fwd'd onto the parents about 2 months ago, but we have heard nothing from them. I too want so much to have some kind of contact with them, so that when our little girl is older they can keep in touch if they want to. We've seen a picture of him and he and our daughter look so much alike..he is so cute! I hope that eventually his family does contact us!

How disappointing that must be.
I'm sorry that it didn't work our as you hoped, but I think it's great that you're reaching out to try and keep the connection between the children. I hope they see your post.
