Let's compare situtations! - Bored PGN'r
Okay gang...I find this "when is the baby coming home" question equal to:
"Are you bringing that young man that you've been seeing to the family wedding??" (Asked by your grandmother.)  Does anyone else mentally compare THE QUESTION to others in your life?

I've never compared the question to others, but now that you've mentioned it:
"Can't you have your own kids?" "Why aren't you adopting from here (U.S.)?" "So, she'll be BLACK?" (about Lillian grrr - makes me want to reply "No, we've found the only CC orphan in Liberia")

Oh...my favorite was "well, after you adopt then you'll be able to get pregnant again."
The sad part, is they were right. Except that the pregnancy was NOT planned and is ectopic! I'm hoping this unfortunate situation will END any further stupid comments about my fertility issues. Since being home...my favorite was the cashier at the supermarket who asked if my son (age 7 months at the time) could speak English. I wanted to say "No, he speaks French." What an idiot!!!! Don't people know that 7 month olds don't speak???? And he was small for his age!!!

I've got a good one to share...I had someone ask me if I was going to tell my kids they were adopted....duh! I'm blonde with green eyes, my dh has lt. brown hair and blue eyes and we are caucasian. My (first two) kids were adopted from Asia. You know, shining black hair, deep brown slanted eyes, etc. Some people really just aren't that bright!!! I just said...Well, I'm pretty sure they would figure it out!!!LOL!!!

questions
MIL question, "Will you tell them they are adopted since they are a different color?" She has since changed her tune and is now our biggest supporter in the adoption. Friend question, " Well if you get to bring one of your babies home before the other, don't you think this will keep your mind off of the one left in Guatemala?" Like bringing one baby home makes you forget that part of your heart is still there. Needless to say, I do not call and share any more details of our adoption.

I was told by one of my friends that maybe if i learn to except that i may never be a mother i will stop torturing myself (b/c i get so upset that it is taking so long). very easy for all my friends to say they decide they want a baby and their he/she is nine months later. people who don't go through infertility and the roller coaster of adoption are just clueless about the pain and the strength it takes!

I have a stupid neighbor: well, I missed milestones with our kids to Maura .... it's not just people who can't have them(kids) that miss them --- he is in the Navy. Response: you CHOSE to be in the Navy, I, however, did not CHOOSE to not have birthed my children. Maura.
