This wait

I know that I have not really been waiting that long in PGN. We entered on 06/23/06. And many of you have been waiting MUCH, MUCH longer than I have. However, I am finding myself extremely depressed lately. We entered on 06/23/06. We have not had any KO's yet. Sophie will be 2 years old on 10/11/06. I just really feel like with her being older, she just really needs to be home before her birthday. Our coordinator at our agency told us that if we do not have any kickouts, that is a possible goal. However, if we are KO'd, it will probably not happen. I find myself so consumed with getting out of PGN that I can not even work. I know that I have all this work on my desk, but I just can't bring myself to do it. I'm consumed with every forum I can possibly find and everyone else's timeline. Any advice from anyone else waiting?

We have been back in since 6/23

Just wanted to let you know we have been back in PGN from an investigation since 6/23. According to most people, our file would be starting from scratch even though we have been in really since 12/05. That being so, you and I are probably in similar timelines in PGN. So far, according to our hired extra help, our file has not bee looked at by the reviewer yet. They had estimated when we went in 6/23 that our file would be looked at after 7/15...but no. I am hoping that it will be looked at this week and sent to be out.

I did also see that last week PGN was looking at and releasing files around 6/15? I am not sure where I saw this. According to this your file should be looked at by the Director and ko or previoed or outed in the next week or so? But PGN is so so unpredictable anyway. My information is about this part is only based on rumors. My first paragraph is reliable informaiton from a reliable source.

Please take this all with a grain of salt. I do not want to get your hopes up...but I am pretty sure that your time is coming to hear something. I thought you would appreciate this info since we are in a similar situation.

Sorry about your wait...for some reason since I re-entered PGN, the last week has been the hardest. I was really really sad and checked the boards constantly too.

Take care,
Jennifer

Tiffany,
I know what you mean about the wait - it's infuriating at times. We get virtually no news from our agency, and I've been scouring these websites for any glimmer of hope and good news. I'm not usually a procrastinator with my professional job, but these last few weeks I've been a pro.

The PGN waiters and graduates list published about once/week on this forum is great (was managed by member, "Larue"). It gives me hope that people *do* get out of PGN!

Keep your chin up!

I am SO sorry you are so frustrated Tiffany. I can say I would be a basketcase. I completely understand the urge to get her home faster because she's older. We, too, are going for an older child. I will pray your case gets out of PGN soon and you can celebrate that extra special birthday with her!!! She is so beautiful!!

Tiffany, maybe you need to give yourself a break from this and other forums. We are in the process of adopting a second child from Guatemala and we are just in the early stages but I have been through this once and felt like you. Even though we were only in PGN for six weeks. Sometimes this all becomes a little overwhelming. I would like to think that I have a little different perspective. My first daughter passed away in a car accident six years ago so I try to remember how precious each day is. I am sure that there are other people that need your attention and love. (husband, child, mom, dad, sister, brother) You get the point. Don't forget to live while you are waiting. Please remember I say these words with the best intentions.

Beth

Hi Tiffany. We have very similar timelines. Let's be "wait" buddies. We went into PGN 6/30/06, and have had no news of KOs either. I'm assuming no news is good news, but with PGN its hard to tell.

I also feel like I'm living in suspended animation. DH tries to distract me every weekend with baseball games, concerts and lots of dinner/movie dates. If you ever need a review of any movie that's has been out in theaters this summer -- I'm your woman

Hang in there...praying we both receive some good news very soon

Ya know, reading about all this anguish about waiting puts those of us who are Just about to start questioning the whole process.
It's not even only the waiting, but all the paperwork and countless hours spent getting everything together, nevermind the expense of the adoption itself.
Yes, there is light at the end of the tunnel, but I haven't even started yet and I'm already finding myself consumed with this. I wonder if this will be emotionally healthy ?

Also, are KO's the norm rather than the exception?

KOs are the rule and not an exception. Try to just take it as part of the process and you might not become so anxious about it. It's just a fact, though some are fortunate to not get any KO.

I know how badly you would like your daughter home for her birthday. We had hoped to have our 2nd son home for his 4th birthday, as well. It got down to the last days...then he spent one more birthday in Guatemala at the orphanage (great place) with his friends and those who had loved and cared for him since he was one month old. What seemed like too near a miss for us, so close to having him here with us, probably ended up much better for him. He got to spend the day with his friends, doing something familiar. I began to think about it as very special that he had one more celebration with those people and photos to share with us taken of his last cake in Guatemala. We baked him one here and video taped ourselves singing to him. Our other kids told him what they would have given him, if he had been here. Fun way to celebrate and to give us hope of him one day joining us. You could do something like that, if not for her, for you!

There is a reason none of our waiting kids are home yet. We can't understand it, it doesn't seem "fair", but their lives are taking the course God set for them. Our kids will come home when God has planned for them. We can't hurry the process, we can only make ourselves crazy by focusing on what we are missing every day. Our kids were 4yrs, 4yrs, and 10yrs when they came home. Our next daughter will hopefully be 10yrs when she finally comes home. It does make me very sad when I think about all the things we missed in their lives. But it wasn't meant to be....or else it would have been. Your daughter isn't old enough that she will remember much of her early life. Ours were, so I have to consider it a blessing they have memories of their first country. God must have plans to use that someday, especially in the case of our older daughter (s).

I hope she arrives home in time to celebrate with you. But if she doesn't, I really hope you get some wonderful photos to share with her one day of the day she celebrated her 2nd birthday with the people who loved her in Guatemala. That truly will be a blessing to her to know she was well loved in two countries, by all who knew her!

I disagree that ko's are the rule, although obviously they are a possibility. I've known of several cases that have gone through with no ko's. I bet you'll hear something any day now. Hang in there.

Hi Tiffany,

Our daughter is 14 months old and we just got home from our first visit trip with her. My heart is broken and I can certainly relate to what you are feeling. I hope that PGN starts to move more quickly and let us bring our babies home.

Brie

PS I'm praying for No kickouts!!

There are 114 cases on the most recent PGN waiters list, 11 have come out recently - only 4 of those were "out" without a previo!

There are 77 cases originally submitted prior to May 31st - 51 have been "kicked out" at least once.

A survivor of 2 ko's...so far

Hey Tiffany,

I completely understand how you feel. We went into PGN on 6/22 and have not heard any news yet. I find myself worrying a lot!! So, then I start to pray, a lot!!! I see you, Laura and I went into PGN on very close dates!! I pray we will hear good news soon!!! I have been more anxious and I am trying so hard not to be!!! I know God's timing is perfect and so I try to focus on how much He cares for us!!! Just hang in there and know you are not alone!!!

I feel the same way some days. Our daughter to be is 2years 3months. I was fine for about the first 6 weeks in PGN. The past 2 weeks I find it getting harder and harder. I went in on June 5th. I've seen a few people getting out that went in around the same time I did so I'm hoping I will hear something soon. Like an approved out not a kick out. I just checked with my agency the other day and I have not had a ko yet. Now that could mean I passed the reviewers desk and am waiting on the director or no one even looked at my file yet. I hope it's that I passed the reviewers and I hope that is the case for you too so Sophie can be home for her Birthday.
