What about stay at home Dad's?

I have seen some posts on here about stay at home mom's but I was wondering how many stay at home dad's are out there?
My husband is going to be the stay at home parent.

My dh is a semi stay at home dad. We run a daycare, and I work at the daycare and he stays upstairs with our babies mostly And we each work outside of the house 1 day a week. He loves it. These 2 keep him on his toes allll day long. And unlike me, he devotes 100% of his attention on them constantly. If I take the day off them I'm cleaning-playing-cleaning-playing but he just plays plays plays plays all day.

My dh is a full time stay at home dad! He is really enjoying it. This is his 2nd time around and while his first two kids were growing up he was working 7 days a week 12 hours a day. He tells me a lot about how much he missed with his other children.

I do giggle though when we run into other moms while out shopping. He takes Ernie to play dates and such, so they know him and he actually fits in.

My DH is a SAHD too! Our daughter is almost 2, and he has been one ever since she came home around 7 months. He is absolutely wonderful. I telecommute full time so I'm around too, but he totally does so much with her!

So glad to see there are others!

My husband Marco will be a SAHD for Isabel when she comes home. He did a great job with our son and they have such a special relationship now. He is a soccer coach and works mostly on the evenings and weekends. I would love to stay at home, but Marco is self employed and I carry the benefits. That part stinks, but I am glad that we can work it out this way.

My husband is an engineering consultant and works from home so is a stay at home dad 2-3 days a week. We have a nanny 2-3 days a week. He takes her to gymnastics, baby and daddy ECFE class, swimming lessons, the hardware store, everything. He loves it! He has a lot more patience then me when it comes to just playing for hours...

Please don't any of you tell Jay about this! He will make me go to (four letter word) when he retires ! He has talked about it but seeing as how the girls will be somewhere between 5 and 15, they will be in school.

I say, good for you SAHD .... there is something to be said for a man that enjoys changing diapers!!!
Maura.

Thanks for the responses. When we were talking to our homestudy agency we said we were going to be unconventional and DH would be staying home. She said it was not as uncommon as we may think.
It's nice to know we are not alone. This will be a new adventure for both of us and I know I will have a hard time when I have to go back to work and he gets to stay home with her but I know he will do a great job.

There's no way we can afford for either of us to stay home... those of you that can are very lucky!

We work from our home so I guess in some ways, we are BOTH SAH parents. However, we do travel a lot for our business; we spent a lot of time promoting us as a team (we are speakers/trainers) but with 2 boys now, traveling as a family is just not as easy as it was with only E in tow. So, I'm becoming more the SAHM while DH continues to be on the road quite a bit. His speaking career was more established than mine when the boys came along, otherwise he'd LOVE to be the one at home. Maybe someday...
In some ways, it's been a bit of an adjustment for me, dealing with being the one "left behind", but, when I think about it, I waited too many years and went through too much pain and heartache to become a mom that I want to spend as much time w/my boys as I can, so it's all worth it. I totally get those who want/need to be working outside the home, though...you have to do what you have to do, and unfortunately (or fortunately), there is no one perfect choice for everyone.

My husband stayed home on the weekends with our baby daughter. I worked as a nurse on the weekends so she did not have to go to daycare. Also, my husband took a six week vacation to stay home with my great niece and great nephew premie babies when we were kinship foster parents. The babies were on apnea monitors and had to be monitored carefully. He did a great job. My daughter loves her dad very much and I thank God he was willing to be a stay at home dad.
