On avg, how long did the adoption process take?
We (my husband and I) are just starting to research International Adoption to see if it is right for us. I am curious, from the time you first started (and I mean the very first steps), how long did it take before you brought your baby/toddler/child home?

Home September 05 My son was born December 04 After referral my process took 9 months

We signed with our agency on June 9, 2005 and brought our daughter home on June 1, 2006.
There are no guarantees, of course, in any kind of adoption, but generally, a Guatemalan adoption takes about a year from start to finish.

We signed with our agency on July 20, 2005 and we brought our daughter home June 7, 2006. It was 6 months after referral that we brought our daughter home.

We started the process about a year ago...I have no idea when she's getting home. We had some issues getting dna authorization, due to changes at the embassy....now we're caught in PGN and the very slllloooowwww approval process! When we signed, our agency thought we'd have a baby by March!!

I'm probably going to be right at a year. Signed with agency August 17, 2005, referral Jan. 20, 2006 and just waiting for pink to bring Chase home.

Timeline
I signed with agency and began paperchase April 6, 2005 and brought my daughter home October 13, 2005.
I was the best thing I have ever done in my life. Good Luck!

Accepted Referral 4-26-05 (we were domestic ready only so we had to start all over with paperwork)
Came home 11-18-05 From referral to home right at 7 months

Signed with agency and began paperchasing the end of June '05. Brought daughter home Jan. '06 five days shy of turning 7 months. We had pink on 12/21 but with the holidays, our Embassy appointment wasn't until 1/6..

Please research your agency really well, while there are things you cant control, there are agencies that take much longer than others. We are looking now and I will tell you I have seen some major differences.

August 2004--started the paperwork and went kinda slow with it.....
December 2004--finished paperwork Jan 25, 2005--daughter born Jan 28, 2005 received referral July 18, 2006--brought her home! so from referral until home--it took about 6 months. My agency can be quite a pain in many ways and much more old fashioned than others, BUT they got me my baby fast and I was willing to put up with a lot for that. In terms of the PA and PGN stuff, they were VERY AGGRESSIVE and knew what they were doing. I can't remember exactly, but I was only in PGN for maybe 28 days total and that included 1 kick out that was dealt with very swiftly. Best wishes! Cindy
