Coban
Does anyone have a child from the Coban area, or is in the process of adopting a child from the Coban area? Our daughter is from Coban. She is currently almost 22 months old, and we are still in PGN waiting to bring her home. Just wondered if anyone has any info on Coban. Or, if anyone knows how long the wait is for a Coban BC.

Our adoption isn't finaly yet, but I'm also curious to find out what other knows.
Our baby girl is from Coban. As you can see by our timeline, we had some difficulty obtaining the DNA sample but thankfully it's done. Now we're on our way to the next step. Praying your stay in PGN ends soon.

Coban
Tiffany,
We are in the process of adopting a baby girl from Coban. She was born June 19th and we received authorization for the DNA test last week but don't know if the sample has been taken yet. You did not post the rest of your timeline so I am not sure how old your baby was at the time of referral. I am sorry that I can not help you with the BC timeline since we are no where near that point yet but we really hope that there is not too much of a delay due to her city of birth for the rest of the process as this is our second referral (we lost our first baby girl after 5 months into the process when the birth mother changed her mind last month) We have been in the process for a year and a half now and just want to get our baby home. I would be interested in hearing some other timelines for babies from Coban although I do know that even when they are born in GC it is no guarantee of a quick timeline. Our first referral was born in GC and it was 14 weeks before we had DNA Authorization. I hope that you get out of PGN very soon and get your baby home!

I don't know if this will help you much, but my daughter was born in Coban and her birth certificate only took 2 days. That unfortunately, was 4 years ago, so things may have changed, but the distance really wasn't a hindrance. We traveled within approximately 10 days after exiting PGN. Our total adoption process at that time took just over 6 months from referral to travel.
Good luck to you all! The children from that area are particularly beautiful, but then again, I am biased ![]()

Can't help you with the BC timeline, but our son was born in Coban; it is a beautiful part of the country.
I would suggest that you do a Google search for "Coban Guatemala" and look for a website by Eve Andersson; she has many photos of the city itself and the surrounding area posted. I agree that the children of that area are particularly beautiful. When I was in Guatemala last winter (without my son), I showed his photo to an acquaintance there, who had not met me previously; he took one look at the picture and said without hesitation, "He has the look of Coban about him." Must be something in the water?? ![]()

Well, since you asked.......
The first one is fairly recent; the second is his referral photo from 2002

Coban
It's great to see that there are others with children from Coban. I was starting to think we were the only ones. Apparently, it's not that common. I would love to post a picture of Sophie, but it says my file is too large. I have listed my timeline so far below. If anyone has any additional information about Coban, please let me know!
