Paperwork? if child comes home on IR3 visa

I was just wondering what you have to do to readopt if you bring your child home on an IR3 visa. Also, anyone know approximately how long it takes to finalize the paperwork for readoption?

TIA!

Unfortunately, everything is dependent upon your specific state. Each state has its own requirements. We live in Minnesota, which is a very easy and quick state to complete readoption with an IR-3. From start to finish, our process only took 3 weeks, with another 30 days waiting on a new birth certificate. Please check with your agency, as they likely have specific information about your state's requirements. I also found this link to state-specific adoption laws that might be helpful:

Every state is different. In some states it only takes one simple document filed at the court house, and in other states it takes home studies 6 months apart and $1500+. Then.... some states do't even have "re-adoption" at all. Post what state you're in and maybe someone can help you out.

Fl

We live in Florida.

I think in FL we technically don't have to readopt, but plan on doing so ... so birth cert. etc. will be issued in US.

Recognition of Adoption

Florida recognizes a foreign adoption. All you have to do is
a recognition of a foreign adoption and a new birth certificate will be issued from your state. I did one in our state of Louisiana and it was very easy. It took about 2 months for a recognition and a new birth certificate to be issued. If you would like, I can send you a copy of what I
did and you can look at what its like to do. You can do it on your own and save in not having to pay an attorney. You will need to make a copy of all your paper work from
Guatemala that you receive on your pick up trip to file for
a recognition. PM me with your email address and I can
email you the paperwork to look at.
