Red face Adoption Reimbursement Benefit from Employers

Hi,

I am in great need of some help. I was furious to learn that although my husband works for a major internationally well respected, well known huge hospital they only give a reimbursement tax benefit after the adoption is completed for doctors and nurses. This is completely prejudicial I feel against the other important workers such as the Lab Technologists, Physical Therapists, Respiratory Therapists and many others who play an important role in the health care team. I am trying to do my homework and put a package together to submit to them to have them reconsider and open up a benefit for the significant others who are adopting. Can someone please tell me if they work for a hospital, occupation there, the name of the hospital if you can share that information and the amount of the reimbursement benefit you receive/will receive. This would greatly be helpful and very much appreciated. Thanks so much for reading and taking the time to help.

Have you gone to the Dave Thomas Foundation website (I hope I can post this name) They can send you all kinds of information about submitting a proposal to companies to add adoption benefits. They can also give information about companies in your state or area that have adoption benefits. It is a great resource!

I can't help you other than to tell you that I remember someone about 6 months ago that had posted this same issue. They worked for a hospital and it had the same policy.

Question Dave Thomas Foundation

yes, I have that information but did not see specific information about companies and what they offer (Dave Thomas Foundation). This is a great help and we will be using it too. Sometime ago someone posted about an internationally well known respected hospital and her adoption reimbursement was $5,000. I am just wondering if it was the same hospital as ours since she lives in the same area and her occupation or if it was perhaps another big hospital well known. It could only be one of two. Thank you.

When I requested this packet several years ago, there was a document included that listed all companies that offered reimbursement and the amount of that reimbursement. It was evident this list was in word processor format because they probably keep it updated on a frequent basis. If they don't still distribute that list automatically with the packet I am sure you can request it.

I am a Radologic Technologist and I work for Aurora Health Care in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. They offer $3700 for adoption assistance. The only thing that I think is dumb is that DH is a RN for Aurora also and we will get $3700. I know beggers can't be choosers! But we are both full time employees and the policy says each full time employee gets $3700 but married couples the work for the company get one benefit

Good Luck!
