How much was your Gautemala adoption?

We are brand new to adoption. We love the idea of international adoption for many reasons and Guatemala sounds like a great option. I'd like to know more about the cost, however. About how much was your adoption? Thanks!

Ours, including everything, shipping costs, passports, notorizing, legalizing, authenticating, and certifying the documents, travel, including a visit trip....every single little thing...will come out to about $35,000. Travel is about $5000 of that price.

Hugs

Welcome to the forum. Once you find an agency you're interested in, you can post their name here and we can write you if we've had a good or bad experience with them.

Guatemala is a great option. Other countries may seem less expensive, but once you factor in the cost of traveling and staying in-country for extended periods of time, it's not so bad.

About costs - everything for us was $29,000. That included one visit trip and one pick-up trip.

Most agency fees are $4,000 - $6,000, and Foreign fees seem to be $19,000 - $22,000. Then there's the cost of the home study ,dossier, travel, passports, etc.

I would say 30,000 to 35,000 is a good amount to go on.

I think all together we proabably spent about $30,000 to $35,000. That is including travel (two trips), agency fee, atty fee and cost for the dossier prep.

Good luck with your process!

We're estimating about $31,000-$33,000 right now and that includes everything! We're lucky because we have enough frequent flier miles for the visit trip and if it can be worked out ok we'll have enough for the pick up trip too so that is going to be a big help in the travel expenses.

Ours is closer to $40K and possibly one or two over

Our atty fee alone was almost $25K, not including agency fees. And we made two trips.

Ours was right at about 34K. That is for travel, HS, authentication, agency fees, etc... However, even though the cost seems high compared to other country's costs, consider the travel time to and from, in country fees (hotels, food, travel expenses, tours, and such), there is also the tax credit plus child tax that you get back at the end of the year your child comes home. That made the cost considerably less.

Good luch and welcome to the forum!

I agree with the 30K -35K depending on the number of trips you take.

Hi.

Our adoption including pick up trip and visit trips will be over $35,000. It WOULD be a few thousand more than that but we get discounted plane tickets.

God bless.
