3 years ago..in the midst of the Hague...we waited...new updates anyone??
Hi friends!
I was sitting here earlier today thinking back to just about 3 years ago. It was right about this time three years ago that we were all stuck at a complete standstill waiting for a decision that would affect our children and our lives! Ughhhhhh..... I remember being on this forum constantly waiting to see if anyone had heard anything. I remember being so worried that my daughter would never come home. I know I came to this forum for the support that I recieved from my forum friends ...most I hadn't even met in person but I know I could count on them. We went through the Hague together and we able to rejoice in September when we found out that it was declared unconstitional. Our babies were on their way home.....!! Fast forward 3 years and our babies are no longer babies..... Annie is now almost 3.5 years old. She is 37.5 inches tall and weighs a whopping 26 pounds ( some day she WILL hit the percentage chart for her weight!!!) She takes ballet, tap and gymnastics classes. She has returned to Guatemala 4 times since she has been home and is going again very soon. She begins preschool in the fall and is learning Spanish. She has been on the cover of two magazines. She adores her older brothers and is just the light of everyones lives. Her favorite TV show is American Idol...she just went to see the tour and had a great time!! So...I am hoping that other fellow Hague survivors will also post updates and pictures of their Hague Babies so we can see how they have grown!! Diane |

Hi Diane
Your daughter is absolutely precious! We were also one of those families stuck in the awful Hague mess. Our daughter is also 3.5 years old, measures 39 1/2 inches tall without shoes (!) and weighs about 36 pounds. She will also soon be going back to Guatemala again for the second time since coming home, to visit her wonderful foster family again. We are forever thankful to them for giving our daughter such loving care while she was with them for the first 15 months of her life. Alie is just starting to learn spanish, I'm not terribly fluent but I can get by and I've been talking to her more in spanish lately. When I told her that S and K, the two youngest in the foster family and with whom she grew up with while there, only speak spanish and we need to learn some before we travel, she has been interested in learning and speaking it. She loves all kinds of animals, especially horses. Eats any kind of meat - chicken, steak, fish, pork, you name it. Right now she is completely addicted to go-gurts, she'll even pick those over a pudding cup! She loves all the Disney movies, and she plays with her dinosaurs and her doctor's kit every day. She likes to give mommy shots Her favorite word is "poopybutt" (my mom's pet name for her dog) and she talks about her "couple of boys" at school - and I thought I wouldn't have to worry about that for at least a couple more years...Here's a picture of her with Koda, from our trip in June to Walt Disney World. Parker will be 4 in Sept. He is very active. He is in gymnastics class and just completed swimming lessons, too. He loves to swim underwater and just recently learned how to dive down to the bottom. He still loves Thomas the Tank Engine however, I think he is beginning to outgrow it a little bit. He will be going to preschool in Aug. and is very excited about that!!
He talks our ears off and loves to play outdoors. We cannot imagine our lives without him!!! Here is a picture from earlier this summer!!!

Quick question...
Tina,
Just a quick question...what was it like bringing a 15 month old home? The baby girl we are trying to adopt is almost 14 months old. We are still in PGN. I always wonder what it will be like to bring her home. Jennifer

What an awful summer that was for all of us! I will never forget the day in Sept the Hague was ruled unconstitutional. My mom heard the news before I did that morning and she called me early when I was still asleep. I woke up to my mom screaming on our answering machine that Elia was coming home! The Hague had been ruled unconstitutional. It was an awesome day! Of course, 2 months later in Nov was when Elia actually came home and that had to be the most amazing and unbelievable day of my life!
Elia is now 3.5 and she weighs 32 pounds. The best way to describe her is to say that she is full of life! She has so much personality and spunk in her! I cannot imagine life without her! It is good to see many of you are still around!

Jenny,
It is great to see Elia. I remember fondly the late night chats I had with your mom while we were waiting out the Hague. There were a few nights that we would sit in the chat room and talk and she was always so encouraging! Diane |
