Okay....I'm not sure if I can actually use their name on here, so I won't use the entire name. To raise more funds, we're thinking of selling items on E-***, but are unsure how safe it is.

Has anyone sold items on E-***; if yes, did you have any problems?

Any suggestions/advice? Please PM me as I don't want to post something that's not permitted (unless you're sure it's okay....then post away!).

I know someone who sold items on E-*** a few years ago and received tons of explicit e-mails....not sure how that happened. They also received spoof mail trying to get their credit card info (wasn't from E-***). That was a few years ago. Just curious if this was still a problem.

You can talk about Ebay.... Just can't link to the site or type the url. So you can't link to products being sold etc.

But discussing Ebay...perfectly fine!

I sell on ebay all the time. Pretty safe, you get some annoying people that done pay every once in awhile. But I use paypal and have never had a major problem. I've found that women's and mens clothes don't go as well, and it seems lately that people like to buy things in "lots". But if you have any other questions email me. Hugs!

I have only sold one item, but had no problems. Just be careful about estimating/figuring weight for shipping or do a flat amount. I ended up just breaking even on the item I sold because I underestimated the shipping weight and charges.

I do get spam email from Paypal and Ebay (well, not from them, but people claiming to be them) all the time, but I think just having an account is enough to get them. I just don't open anything from either, but access my accounts through their websites to check for any messages.

We've had good success selling things on Ebay. Mostly musical equipment and men's clothing. My SIL is addicted -- she goes to garage sales and buys things for 50 cents and sells them for 10 or 11 dollars a pop (she knows what to look for -- if I tried that, I'd probably just wind up with a bunch of junk no one else wants ).


I even bought my car on Ebay (my dad thought we were nuts, but we got a great deal and no problems so far -- had it for almost a year now).

We bought our car on ebay too. LOL Actually, we saw it at a car lot and they told us it was listed on ebay. We technically bought the car from the lot, but we had to go on ebay and "bid." We got a free XM radio through ebay for it.

I don't do alot of selling (maybe a couple times a year). I definitely do more buying. If there is some hard-to-find item that I'm looking for, it's usually the first place I check. You can find anything there.

If you are worried about spam, set up a yahoo or gmail account just for that site. I have one that I use for any catalog site or other place that requires an email to "register" so that my private home account doesn't get spam.

I only buy through ebay - but hubby has sold things and hasn't had any problems.

I have sold a few things here and there. Mostly highly sought after items like vintage dolls, cameras, name brand baby clothes, etc. My husband sells baseball cards on ebay. We have never had any problems. My husband has sold thousands of items and only very rarely has a dissatisfied customer. For those rare times, he bent over backwards to make them happy. He's all about good customer service!

When listing an item to sell, check completed similar items to see how best to list your item. Also, watch out for shipping. You don't want to sale an item for $5 and charge $4 shipping and then the thing cost you $9 to ship! But, be careful not to charge too much shipping and discourage buyers.

eBay is definitely a good way to make some extra $. I suggest going to Walmart and picking up a $20 postal scale so you will know exactly what your shipping costs will be. Be sure to include the costs of packing materials too!
I highly suggest gymboree and boutique brand baby clothes. They are good sellers. I hope this helps, PM me if you want more info.
