Waiting for DNA test?

Okay...this is somewhat long......anyone wait quite some time for their DNA test to occur (after DNA authorization)?

We had our third attempt yesterday. Our agency is checking to see if she made the appointment and if not, what our options are at this point.

I'm just not sure how long we should wait for the DNA test to occur. I believe we're close to 7-8 weeks now. I'm sure there have been others who have waited much longer, and I'd appreciate hearing how your situation turned out.

Has anyone waited over 12 weeks for their DNA test to occur (from authorization to the time of the test)?

Has anyone had a birthmother who never came to the DNA appointments which resulted in abandonment or the need to accept another referral?

I do believe that God has control and everything happens for a reason....I'm a firm believer in that. BUT, it's the "not knowing" that drives me crazy!

Hoping to receive word from our agency tomorrow. Thanks for your support.

I totally feel your pain. It took forever for us to get authorization and we are still waiting for the test. Our birthmom is "vacationing" in El Salvador with her boyfriend. I'll pray for your case too. It's so gut-wrenching to not know. I know many birthmoms have trouble making the appointment because of work or because they live out in the sticks. I hope that's the case for you.

For our son's case we waited about 2.5 months from when it was first authorized until it was finally done, with at least three missed appointments in between. We were told at the time it was scheduling issues, but in hindsight I suspect there may have been more to it. BUT, it did turn out ok in the end, and our son has been home over a year now, so it CAN work out. But you are so right. The not knowing is a killer.

Hoping you have good news from your agency tomorrow!!

I am so sorry you having to go through this delay. I hope that she infact did make it to the DNA test. I know sometimes it can be difficult for them to come into town. Just keep asking these questions of your agency, I think it is their job to find out exactly what is going on. Keep us posted and I am hoping that it was done or will be done very soon.

Do you know where your birth mother lives? There are some parts of the country that become very difficult to travel in during rainy season.

Dulce,

You know I waited a long time. But I wanted to remind you that we pray for you and your family each night. And we know she will be home soon!
Hugs,
Lisa

Thanks for all your prayers! I actually feel a little silly as I know there are others who have waited longer than this and I should be fortunate things have gone as smooth as they have so far.

As far as our birthmother, she was unable to attend the first appointments due to work and illness. I understand there are many obstacles they face when attempting to come to the appointments....I truly understand that.

Thanks again for your input..... I'm not alone!
