I was just wondering if there are any other singles adopting or who have made it through the process on the forum.

My agency had me come write a letter relating to my single status (heterosexual, not in a relationship leading to marriage and male role models that I will provide to my daughter). They said that PGN has been kicking out and requesting this information so I was glad that they were proactive in having this written now. It is being certified/authenticated and then will be sent to the lawyer in Guate.

Just wanted to see if any other singles on the board.

I'm single and adopting my first child. A little boy born in January. There are several other singles here. I also had to have a male role model letter included in my dossier.

4/10/06 DNA authorization

Adopting a baby girl, who is currently 9 months...waiting on BC and pink, just got out of PGN after 3 long hard months! I am now though freaking a bit on being a single parent...the normal "what if"s I am sure! Can't wait to go get her!

I'm single here as well. I had to have an addendum to my home study that was my male role model document.

I was stessing about getting a referral and now that I have one I've been stressing about a name. I'm also in the process of trying to lineup day care and finding it difficult to find openings in day cares where I live. I'm glad I started looking now instead of waiting until she is home.

I am also adopting as a single parent. Im waiting on my h-171 here in georgia and its been 8 weeks. My agency had me do a female role model letter. I also had to have letters saying that Im not a homosexual. I also had to have a letter from a female Id been in a personal relationship with. I had to have a psychiatric evaluation done as well. Its been alot to endure but it will be worth it when I have my son. Ive noticed that alot of single females are adopting but very few single men. Thanks for chiming in. It is good to know that we are not alone. I too have a very supportive family and friends group. I hopefully have someone interested in watching my little one when she comes home and I go back to work.

Have any of you had any trouble with unsupportive employers? Mine is somewhat supportive but not offering any paid time off or adoption assistance. I am still working on them though to at least let me role over my vacation time if everything isn't final by year end.

Any other tips on choosing day care, pediatricians, etc?

I'm single too. My dossier also includes a "male role model" letter. I'm grouchy today though. Saturday will be 100 days in PGN for me.....grrrr

Good for you Calebsdad! Tough process you have to go through but it will be so worth it when your little guy comes home!

I'm single and adopting a nine month old girl. I included three male role model letters- from my brother, brother in law and a good male friend.

I am a single mom of 2 boys (4 and 2) adopted through the US foster system and now we are waiting for our beautiful baby sister. I had to have the male role model and a letter proclaiming my heterosexuality for my home study. The notary looked at me a bit funny when she entered the title Heterosexual Letter in her ledger. haha. Good luck to all of you.
