Maybe try emailing the customer service or public relations departments of such media organizations -- there actually may be a place to suggest human interest stories even without knowing someone there (although as we all know it does pay to have connections!). I am popping in from the Russia board. Recently, Dateline did a story on a couple that adopted three sets of Russian twins. I wonder if you tried to contact that reporter (Keith Morrison) and producer directly if maybe they would be more sensitive to your story, and are interested in doing another compelling adoption story. This isn't necessarily major, but I work for KCUR, our affiliate station of NPR (National Public Radio). NPR is extremely big on human interest stories!

KCUR did an adoption profile program last week, but that is primarily for the KC listening audience.

One of the first questions they will ask me though is, "What exactly is the message/concern/thrust of the story that she has?"

I know your story, but if you could give me a few of your words, that could help!

Maybe, to add onto that, try to focus on anyone in the media who has personal adoption experience! You can do a Google search on "famous" people who have adopted or are adopted. i.e. Barbara Walters

Surely once you have been touched by adoption, you are always touched by adoption!

Someone said to contact Rosie O'Donnell, I would agree. She is a HUGE supporter of adoption. Melissa Ethridge is too. She should also have a web page that shouldn't be difficult to fine.

Hey, Suzanne.

Here is what I would do:
1. Start local - write to EVERY newspaper and t.v. station (In Philly, we have one newscaster that is devoted to special interest stories. If you go on the news website, you can e-mail him directly.
2. If you get a bite, be RELENTLESS. Most national news stories are picked up from local stations.
3. DO something eye catching...I know this may sound silly because your story is touching enough but a benefit, a children centered event, a ribbon campaign could help.
4. Contact local politicians - they LOVE to get their faces out there...especially if it turns into a media plug for them

Please PM me if you have questions. I am speaking from experience. On a different level but I really got a LOT of action. My little nephew had a serious heart condition. He was in another country and we needed to get him to the U.S. We started a campaign and we got him here!! Thanks to much help from the news. He was fitted with a pacemaker and now lives happily in the U.S.
