Hi everyone,

One of the processes is a social work report from an interview with the birth mother. Do we get a copy of part of that? I'm sure the report would be none of my business, but I was just wondering if they had a section about the child's heritage or his family so that I could tell him at a later date, (if the birthmom wanted him to have that info).

Yes, we got SW reports for all three of our children and it gave lots of information!!

I got a copy of the report from family court which included the info from the birthmother's interview. It's not just about the birthmother, it's about me as well and my application to adopt. Thankfully it said nice things about me and approved as qualified to be an adoptive mother.

Many get copies of the report, not all. I got copies of the reports for both my boys.

The reports will not always be accurate or give an accurate picture of the situation. In my case I know some of the statements in the reports are not accurate. I don't have enough info to determine the extent of the inaccuracies. I'm planning on using the phrase recommended on the Big List "the paperwork states" when sharing the info with the boys. I don't know of anyone who worked with the facilitator that I worked with having a successful birthfamily search so I might never have any more info than what is in the report. At least I was fortunate enough to be given pictures of the birthmother's holding them.
