How to bathe 7 month old

Curious how you all bathe your baby? She has been in the infant tub all this time but is sitting up pretty well now and the tub is kind of small. Like to put her in the regular tub. I have not been able to find a bath ring except on Ebay and read quite a bit about some safety issues with them. They mostly pertain to parents having a false sense of security with them and accidental drownings. I am thinking of getting one and of course just being very vigilant. I would never leave her unattended in the bath anyways. One hand rule still applies :-) Just curious before your kids were great sturdy sitters how did you bathe them. I am afraid to sit her unasissted in the big tub. She is so dang slippery when wet LOL

Hi-

We used a tub we found at Walmart, I think they have it at Target too and Babies R Us. Its a big duck that you blow up with air and they sit in it like a little boat. You just fill the duck up with water and not the real bathtub, but you put the duck in the tub.

Its bigger than a baby tub but smaller than the real tub. Our daughter came home at 10 months old and loved this tub. She could lean on the back of it, and the beak of the duck quacks.

She just this week (she's a year old now) graduated into the regular tub without the duck. It was a smooth transition. We now use the duck as a little boat for our pool outside!

Blow up tub

We also switched to a blow up tub (not the duck tub) and loved it. Peyton stayed in there until he was 13 months old before switching to the big tub with a slip resistant mat in the tub.

I am asking for the blow up tub for my shower. I used a ring for my neice and it was horrible. She didn't like it and it was difficult to put a baby in and pull one out...... especially if she didn't want to go in it!!!!! If she tensed up and got stiff good luck getting her in it

Primo Eurobath bathtub was the best we found. Kids up to 2 years can use it. Do a google search. I know Babies R Us carries it.

The easiest way we have found is to have our 7 month old bathe with us. He sits well, but I am afraid in the slippery tub that he would hit his head. Not sure if our bathroom is large enough to accomodate a blowup tub (it's really tiny), but maybe we will look into it for our travels.

I got one of the rings off ebay and have used it since 7mos. I did not buy it to prevent drowning-- my sitting by the tub does that. I bought it so she could sit/reach without constantly slipping and sliding around. Anyway, I really like it.

We used the Duck tub until 9 months old, then she got too big for it. Actually, I found she was getting (or adding to) a diaper rash from the soapy water - since the duck can't hold much water it was too soapy by the end of the bath. Anyways, we put her in the rugular tub with a skid-proof mat and she does great. No more rashes either.

I am and have been using the bath seat that my daughter used as a baby. She is 15 now. We have had no safety issues, except now, at 16 mos. he wants to stand in the tub. Of course that's a no no. Like you said, just be vigilant and don't turn your back for a second. Good luck in your choosing.

We went through a phase with both of our girls where the easiest thing was to hand them off to a parent in the shower (no soapy parents, of course) and wash them off that way. At that age they don't get supper dirty so a shower goes a long way.

Had no problems with this one and still use it and my dd is now over 13 months. Of course, I never ever leave her anywhere let alone in the tub by herself - so I'm not sure of drowning issues. But it works great for us!

I second the recommendation for the eurobath. It's the big molded plastic one. We went through a couple of tubs before that one and ended up using it from when he was about 3 months until he was maybe 18 months. It's the best one out there.

The pic that juniper's mom posted is the same seat that we use. It's been around for a long time.
