Good news!! Congrats to the PGN outs, and a few questions --
Hi all! So excited to see the PGN outs. Maybe the actions taken by the ADA that are posted on Guatadopt are working?? Anyway, our paperwork was submitted to the Embassy on Monday, and we will hopefully have pink this week or next week. So, working on getting ready, and have two questions:
1. Can anyone recommend a good pediatrician in Northern Virginia/DC area? I had one, but just called and the doctor isn't accepting any new patients. 2. It is possible that my husband won't be able to go down for the pick-up trip. We both visited in February, and I visited three more times. Has anyone ever dealt with this before? My agency claims that all I need is a copy of his passport showing that he visited and a notarized letter saying he is unable to make the trip. I suppose they know what they are doing, but I have nightmares thinking about me getting to the Embassy and them saying "No way -- we won't issue your visa with this paperwork." Any suggestions?? Thanks for your help, and again -- congrats to all the PGN outs. Now, if they could only get to the long-terms like the Lockharts (I read Suzanne's recent post with a big lump in my throat).

Best pediatricians in the D.C. area are Paul Peebles and James Mattey at the Pediatric Care Center in Bethesda. A slight hike from Northern Virginia but if you want to take the trip for a first visit, worth it.

Yes, you should take copy of his passport, some pictures of the visit, the letter notarized and a POA from him giving you all the power to sign any paper for him.
Probably they would not ask for anything but is better to have it in the case.

My husband wasn't able to be on the pickup trip in April. The only 2 things I needed was a signed/notarized POA from him and his passport. We didn't have any problems.

I picked up our daughter alone, and my husband picked up our son alone. We each took a color copy of the first page of the other's passport as well as the page where it was stamped when we entered the country for visits, and a POA. We also took along pictures showing us with the kids on a visit, but no one asked for them. Your attorney should already have one you signed earlier, but I also brought along an extra signed and notarized (but not dated) I600 just in case.
Never heard of a letter. I would think you would need a POA. Let me know if you need the wording.

I think you have to have a POA if your husband cannot travel so you can sign his consent at the embassy.
