How do we get the adoption rate at the Marriott? Does my agency have to be on a "list"? Or if anyone knows of a better deal, please let me know.

All you need to do is call the 800# for the Marriott and let the CSR know you are going on a visit or a pickup trip to G.C. The CSR may not know about the adoption rate, just insist upon them checking with their supervisor and let him/her know which agency you are using. The adoption rate is $90/night which includes the breakfast buffet at Marriott in GC.

I do encourage you to request the adoption floor unless you don't want to. It is so nice to be around other families and if your child is screaming at 2am than you can bet you aren't alone and noone is going to be angry calling the front dest to hush your child.

Also there is a really nice baby room which is wonderful to just hang out in during the afternoons etc

Check with your agency they may be on the Marriotts list for a cheaper rate

Just an FYI. I just got back from my pick up trip...the best "adoption rate" I and my agency was able to get was $150.00 per night. When I went in September the rate was $75.00. Even my attorney in Guatemala tried to get me a better rate, but this was the best they would offer at this time. I ended up staying at the Westin for $110.00 per night and LOVED it. They just completed a 3 million dollar renovation. They also have a family floor, but I didn't stay on it. I felt the staff REALLY bent over backwards to be accomodating. They even provide strollers so you don't have to take one. I will post more about my trip later, but just and FYI. Next time, I would stay at the Westin again.

We just told them our agency and they gave us the$90/night rate. It included a really great breakfast buffet!
We stayed on the adoption floor but if you do not get on that floor don't sweat it, we went in only for a minute or two b/c there was a bug going around in that room. We met tons of people adopting down by the pool, in the resturants...in the lobby...Good luck!

You can also call Trent with Velocity Travel, and he can get you a good rate. We just got back last week, and we got a rate of $83 a night, and that included the breakfast buffet. We didn't stay on the adoption floor which is on the 3rd floor, but we did stay on the 8th floor in the same tower and it was fine. Also when you check in, ask for a volcano view, it is much nicer than looking at the roof.
