Layover time for Travel
Does anyone know if 1hr and 52mins. is enough time to go through immigration and not miss the connecting flight? We would be going through Charlotte, N.C. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

From what I understand, Miami is one of the rough and lengthy places to come through, and we did it within two hours.. I don't have any experience with Charlotte ~ Actually didn't know international flights went through Charlotte, but I would think it would be pretty quick... Atlanta was a piece of cake..

I went through Atlanta and was done in about an hour and then had another 2 hours to wait for the flight home.

Is this for your visit or pick-up trip?
I've traveld through Charlotte 3 times. For a visit it would be no problem. But for a pick-up it may be cutting it close. For our pick-up, we got through the entire immigration process in about 1 hour. Of course, then you have to get your luggage, get the the correct terminal, etc. If it's with the same airline, even if it's a pick-up, I'd do it.

We have been through Charlotte customs and immigration on a few trips (but not a pick up trip yet). I don't recall there being more than one planeload of people in line at a time. It was very smooth.
Most recently, we came through near the end of the line, since we were held up waiting for our gate checked stroller. We still had plenty of time to walk (not run) through the airport and stop to have BBQ in the food court area on the way to the gate. We did comment that with children, it would be nice to have one of the motorized carts meet us to take us to the gate. BTW, Marcy, you can fly directly from Charlotte to Guatemala City, as well as many other international destinations. It's like a well-kept secret that our nice airport goes so many places!

We have generally had good luck at Charlotte...but beware of hurricane season. Many carribean cruise ship passengers seem to go through Charlotte. When a hurricane threatens, they all come back at one time. We were once stuck in the regular immigration line for an hour (after being held on the plane for 45 mins because of the length of the immigration line). I suppose, though, that when bad weather strikes, this can be the case in any of the airports.
All that said, we plan to fly through Charlotte on our pick-up...it's a very nice, not overwhelmingly big airport. |

We don't have any experience with Charlotte, but we went through Atlanta in Feb, and we had to wait three hours!!!!!
There was only about 5 families waiting-and many of them missed their connecting flights! It was crazy-because there was not many people waiting! UGH!Good luck! Sabra
