I think that in a round about way I just told off half of my family in our blog....
I have been kicking the idea around of waiting it out in Guatemala with Carson and hoping that it will motivate our agency to get our BC and then PINK. Our State side agency gives me the run around and I feel like if I was down there with the attorney that I could try and get them to get the job done that we paid them for. It's BC and Pink it can't be that HARD PEOPLE So Dh is all for it we just have to figure out some tings money wise, but our families keep telling us to wait. Part of me wants to scream, I mean I have waited patiently til now. Besides I already said that I would give them this week to get something done but if we aren't submitted for pink this week I am going down there, maybe it will help maybe it won't but it has been 3 months since I seen my son. Am I being usreasonable? Honestly? I think that while they ask all the time when is Carson coming home, when I tell them I don't know they look at me like I am crazy and ask well why don't you do something, say something to your agency etc. And now that I am wanting to do something about it, they are telling me to wait. What do you all think? Sorry for the vent I feel like bursting.

If you are able to do it and you want to do it, I say go for it. Those who aren't involved in the process really don't understand so do what is best for your family. Good luck!

Liz,
Trust me I know EXACTLY how you feel. When I was talking about fostering Braeden, family and friends were like, "No, Megan, just wait." I wanted to scream, "O.k., you give me your kids and I'll keep them from you and you can just wait for some piece of paper that makes it all better!" I wil pray that you get pink this week so you don't have to worry about this decision! Do you have your BC? Megan

Bizzie,
I know it's frustrating when you don't get the support you need. Maybe they are concerned about your safety in a foreign, non-English speaking country? Best wishes to you.

I understand...I'm not even close to being done, but every day I think of going down to foster. I want him home so bad at times I'm in physical pain. It's hard - and they don't understand (completely). If you can afford it, then what would it hurt to go? Maybe they are just concerned, but at the same time, they should understand that you just want to be with your baby.

What's the time frame for a BC from that town? What are you being told by your agency? That doesn't seem like a long wait to me. It took us 1 month and 2 days from exiting PGN to Pink. We had a Mixco BC and a great attorney, but these things can take time.

Liz,
Please go ahead and vent! I'll trade you my mil! One day she called and said "I'm tired of telling people that I don't know when the baby is coming home - just tell me". The cruelist (so far) was when I was out for the evening, then she called and woke up our 3 year old, she said "well I thought you went off to Guatemala and didn't tell us!". I'm sure they would freak out if we went for an extended period of time. MIL has never said that our beautiful daughter was cute - she just made a remark as to "what's wrong with her hand" (she chews on her fingers all of the time)...as if I knew from 1000 miles...her ears are big just like your son's. She's also sure that the fm is a man - she has her hair pulled back in the picture. There will be so many racist remarks when she arrives...going to foster would only be the beginning. They are also experts on international economics and they're sure that what the foster family gets paid is a lot of money. Please vent away! (I'll pm you, after I speak with my friend who just returned!)

I'd say go for too... it can't be that much longer and if they have had a temporary memory lapse about getting you BC and submittion for Pink taken care of then this is certain to remind them!

I think we all experience the "family woes" to some degree. Vent away...you're among friends who understand
And if you're this close, DH supports the decision, and you have the resources to do it...I'd say go for it. We're still at the beginning of the process, and I sometimes...OK always...feel like packing my bags and jumping on the next plane to Guatemala City. Best wishes, and let us know how it goes!

I looked at your timeline and you have been waiting 15 days for the BC, which doesn't seem long at all. Is there a reason that you think it is going to drag out longer?

As an addition to my last post... if you can swing it financially, etc. then by all means go and be with your son. No one understands what it feels like to be a way from him like we do... no matter how short your wait it can seem like torture.

The time frame for Escuintla (according to other adopting families) is same day or next day.
I am just not sure what is going on hopefully our agency will surprise me and give us some info this week

If you can go, I say go! Maybe it won't result in Carson coming home any sooner, but at least you'll be with him, rather than going crazy at home!!

I say, if you can swing it, go! I found that our attorney more "efficient," shall we say, when he knew I was coming, or knew I was there. But do keep in mind that some things are out of the attorney's control. Do you know for sure that the Protocollo has been signed and the birth certificate requested?
Having been there, I just would hate to have you get down there and find out that for some reason it was going to be a lot longer than you expected. (I was told my daughter's GCBC was going to be ready the day after I got there. Then I got down there and found out it hadn't even been requested until 2 days before I arrived.) But cmfayz said it well. If you can go, go. And even if it doesn't get him home sooner, at least you are with him. Good luck!
