Feedback on Atlanta Customs Process

Our agency recommends we bring our son home through Dallas and not Miami, but we also can get convenient flights through Atlanta, has anyone come through Atlanta customs on their pick up trip? Please provide any feedback good or bad on the process. Thanks!

We came through Atlanta in March. It was extremely easy. We waited less than 30 minutes. This was our final destination, so I'm not sure how long it took then to catch a connecting flight. I'm sure someone else can chime in with some information on that.

We also came back through Atlanta in March. Customs directed us to a holding area with seating. We waited about 30 minutes for our names to be called and were on our way.

I agree... Atlanta is the fastest. I have been thought Dallas (okay), Miami ,(A NIGHTMARE ) and Atlanta .

If you have a layover, try to make it a long one if poss. that way you have time to relax and eat.

We came through Atlanta in late April. It was so easy and we were completely done in less than 20 minutes.

We went through Atlanta in January. We had no problems at all and it took less than 30 minutes.

We came through Atlanta right before Christmas in 05. A BREEZE!! We were in and out in less than 30 minutes. They were so nice and we had no problem catching our next flight. If you can, get some extra time. The airport is HUGE and has a lot of really good places to eat. Take your time and have a break. You'll enjoy the rest from all the rushing back and forth!!

We came through Atlanta on March 3, 2006. We waited for over 3 hours to be called. There was one man working (if you could call it that). There was about 10 families waiting from the flight from Guatemala in addition to others coming for various other reasons. EVERYONE missed their connections. I don't know whether it was because it was a Friday night or if someone called in sick. All I know was it was a nightmare sitting there waiting with a very tired, confused baby.

I don't know about international persay but Atlanta airport in general is really busy on a friday night! I would try to make it midday if at all possible. I live about 15 minutes from the airport.

Atlanta is pretty smooth, I do not connect through it anymore normaly I drive there its so much cheaper.. But one wee bit of advice be careful what you put in your luggage. Last time I took a plastic jar of peanut butter for DH mom and I saw my bag 24 hours later. I called and Atlanta held my bag to search it, when it went through xray they didnt know what it was..she still got her peanut butter though lol
