Has anyone here used adoption fares at any of the major airlines for their pick up trip? Was it difficult? Was it truly a deal? What did you need in order to make a reservation and get the special fare? thanks!!

I've not personally used the adoption fares yet. I think some ppl contacted the Airline and asked about thier fares. I'm not positive about this but I think it is Delta and American Airlines who have the specail fares. I can't really tell you if they were a good deal or not.

Maybe I'll start to research that too so that I'm prepared for the pick-up trip...Let us know what you find.

The problem we had with pick-up was lack of time. Most adoption fares and "deals" need to be booked with a particular amount of notice. We were given 3 days notice and we ended up paying a LOT for our tickets...a lot more than we had on our visit trips.

We found out at 6:30 pm that we needed to travel for our embassy appt the next morning. We used Delta and we got a great adoption fare. I called the 1800 number and they reserved the seats over the phone, and then we paid for them the next morning at the airport. The ticket agent said that was the only way we could get the adoption fare. My mom travelled with us, and they even gave her the discounted rate. They only required a copy of the 171-H.
