notarizing documents?????
What happens if the doctor letter has chicken scratches for his signature, is folded into thirds, and the notary expires in Jan 2007?
Also, what is the proper procedure for the notory? Can she write a long paragraph that's sloppy, with mistakes? And can she sign at the bottom of the paragraph and put her stamp above the paragraph? Is this okay? Can the marriage certificate be notorized by a clerk or does it have to be a judge? And can the BC and marriage license come from the county or does it actually have to be thru thr capitol? Ours are thru the county with a raised state seal and they say true certified copy on them. Will they work? Oh this is stressful!!!! I thought it was going great till today and now I might have messed up. Help!!!!

As someone who reviews dossiers for my agency I would... 1) Have your doctor's letter redone with a better signature and a better notarial date (at least a year away) 2) Be sure your notary write/types legibly 3) Marriage certificate needs to be issued by the state and/or county with a state/county seal State specific questions are probably best answered by your homestudy social worker, as each state has different laws. Good luck!

This doesn't matter at all, all doctor's signature's are illegible. That's the point of the notary. But you do want to use a notary whose commission doesn't expire for at least 12 months. And who doesn't have mistakes in whatever she's writing. |

I second what DD Amasa said. My doctor's signature was chicken scratch and my agency said no problem.

It depends on your agency as to whether the signature MUST be legible or not. Ours insists is has to be. Our dr basically just wrote the name instead of signing. Try bribing with cookies or something :-)
The notary should definitely expire later. God forbid if your case drags on - you don't want the docs expiring in the middle of everything. PGN would have a field day with that I'm sure. |
