Anyone re-adopt in CT
Hi everyone!
Has anyone gone through the re-adoption process in CT? We brought our son home on an IR-4 Visa (we didn't visit before we went to pick him up). I would appreciate the name of the attorney you used and any feedback you could provide. Please PM me with any info. Thanks! Robin

Robin... I posted a similar question. We are visiting our son but were told its best to readopt in the US either way IR-3 or IR-4.

I wanted to let you know that your agency will handle the readoption for you. If they do it for you, it will be held at the West Hartford Probate court and no attorney is needed! Diane

Hey there Robin !!!
How are you doing ?!?! Great we hope... Our understanding is that if you come home on a IR3, no re-adoption is necessary, only a name change if you in fact choose to change the first name of your baby, BUTTT if you come home on a IR4 you do have to have a re-adoption take place & like Diane sd, your agency should handle that for you ... Hey Kathy - we are doing fine! Ethan's two bottom front teeth are almost in so he's a little cranky. Hope you all are good too! Do you have any pictures you can e-mail me from the party? Do you know if anyone else has any they can send? We completely forgot to bring our camera so we don't have any pics.

Kaila come home on an IR3 Visa and I did an adoption validation. I didn't need a lawyer. Just had to go to my local towns probate court. It was a really easy process.
Kathy, or any one else at the CT gathering, I didn't have my camera with me that day either,so if somebody could email pictures to me I would really appreciate it. I would really love a copy of the one with all the kids on the couch. Thanks, Lisa

I'd love to have any photos anybody took at the picnic, too! Should have brought our camera, just wasn't thinking.
I've been wondering about the re-adoption thing too, so I'm glad to see that it came up. Of course, we don't have our homestudy finished yet, so I guess we've got some time before we have to worry about it!
