Anyone readopt in Pennsylvania?
For anyone who readopted in Pennsylvania, I'm curious as to the process and steps needed, along with the time length that it took to readopt (and any other information you could provide). Thanks!

In PA you need only do a recognition of foreign adoption reagardless of the Visa your child came home on. The statute states that if a Foreign Government has finalized the adoption abroad then PA will recognize that country's adoption decree. Unfortunately the statute also states that each county may have their own procedural requirements (e.g. some require a court hearing)
Ours cost $100, we did not need a lawyer. We dropped off the paperwork on a wednesday and had the signed decree in our hands via US mail three days later on Saturday. Three months (and lot of phone calls) later we had teh PA BC. Good luck!

Huh...that is really good to know. I wasn't sure how PA handled that.

We did this too, but it cost more in Philadelphia- of course
. I don't usually use the smilies- but the extra fee here deserved one! We're still waiting on the PA birth certificate for our daughter from China- it's been about seven or eight weeks. The city tells us the state has been slow.Julie |

I live in PA and did re-adopt my daughter even though I came home on a IR-3 visa. If you want to do a name change (as was the case for me) and live in Bucks County, you will find it is easier just to do a readoption. Apparently Bucks County is the only county that is like that in PA. Grrrr!! If you live in Bucks County- let me know, I have a good attorney for you to use.
