Waited since 10-17-05, and today I got the original documents back!!!!!
I having been checking the mail every day in hopes of getting this package. Well today it arrived. I'm glad I finally got it, and I am now waiting for nothing. However, I didn't get what I wanted the most in the package. I was hoping to get a photo of Blanca's mother, as she is deceased, or another picture of Blanca when she was little. I didn't get any pictures at all except for the original Dna, which I appreciate, because the copy I had was so dark. I got all the original paperwork, I already had copies of most of it. Even though I didn't get what I wanted, I am glad I requsted the original documents, and now have them, or I would always wonder what I could've gotten. I hope the rest of you get yours soon. Form G-884, for those of you unfamiliar!

Congratulations.
I am sure your little girl will cherish that picture as she gets older.

thanks,
I sure hope so, as she said to throw it away when I showed it to her today. She obviously didn't think too fondly of him. ![]()

How wonderful that you did get something. Hopefully it will be something she will be glad to have in time.
I just sent the forms in a couple weeks ago for my kids, so I really curious to see what I get back. I have had several people tell me lately that they did not get the DNA photo, so I am glad to hear it is still a possiblity.

Yeah for you!! Question for you... if you can remeber when you sent it in, did you fill the Name of Requester with your name or your babies? And when it says specific information requested did you just put adoption records? Also, it asks for two legible copies of identification to be submitted - is this mine or my daughters identifications? And it says they need proof of a relationship between the subject and the requestor - do I send a birth certificate copy? Also, does it cost anything?
Sorry to hijak your post, I have been sitting on this because I wasn't sure how to fill it out and your post prompted me to action.. ~Shannon

Yeah, I sat it that form for over a year, working up to fill it out!
If you have had the form for a while, check the USCIS website as there is a new form recently. Not sure that it matters, but I think the newer one is clearer to fill out. The first part asks for information about you - the petitioner. Part 2 asks for "Data for Identification of Personal Records" - your child. Under "Specific Information About Desired Documents or Records" I put " Any and all documents pertaining to the adoption and/or immigration of (child's full Guatemalan name with your last name as on B/C) including, but not limited to, foreign adoption and birth records, visa and immigration records, photos, and any other documents contained in the file of USCIS." (You have to write REALLY small!) Then I signed the bottom and there is a second page to have your signature notarized. I included a copy of my child's Guat passport and CofC for their proof of identity, and a copy of their Guat birth certificate as my proof of identity as parent. Some people have told me then sent in a copy of their driver's license as well to prove their identity. Since I only mailed it on the first and haven't gotten anything back yet, I can't be sure I did it right, but at least they haven't returned the form to me! ![]() There is no cost except what it costs to have it notarized.

I asked for any pictures or paperwork that they had. I got a pretty good sized package. I thought I filled the form out all wrong. I thought it was very confusing. They musn't be very picky, because I didn't do anything right or I didn't think I did.
