Baby's hand and foot prints???

Has anyone ever asked for their babys hand or foot prints like they do in the hospital?

Just wondering, I mean I know they are not officially ours until the end but I would like my soon to be babys foot prints and or hand print for their baby book.

BTW our baby is not in a foster home he is in an orphanage

thanks
brandee

We actually did get them for our first referral. She was referred to us at one day old and we got her footprints a couple weeks later. Sadly we lost her though. (She passed away.)
We didn't get them for our son and daughter, but they were older at referral, so I have no idea if it is common for newborn referrals. Couldn't hurt to ask if someone could do them for you though. They worst they could say is "no."

Perhaps they would do it for you at a doctor visit? I plan to do this myself when I go visit my baby!

If you're going for a visit, maybe you could do it yourself. Just bring along an ink pad and paper. I didn't get footprints in my daughter's paper work but did ink up her hands and feet on a visit when she was two months' old and have them for her scrapbook.

We took an ink pad when we visited and mailed postcards back to our families addressed like they were from our DS (Grandma & Grandpa XXX, etc.) with nothing on them but his little footprint. They loved them!
Warning though - it took two months for them to arrive back in the States!

I got handprints and footprints and the old umbilical cord stump and her first fingernail clippings..I thought it was very thoughtful of the foster mother..
