When do docs expire?
We've been through one China adoption, and know all documents in the dossier are good for at least one year. Can anyone tell me how long the dossiers are "good" for Guatemala?
editted to add: Also- I read the state police clearances and doctor reports need to be notarized. Again, with China, we were able to notarize a paper saying something like "this is the document as we received it from Doctor....." because the doctor didn't have a notary. Also, the state police sent back our clearances un-notarized. Is this sort of statement acceptable in Guatemala. Thanks, Julie Last edited by skoi : 05-12-2006 at 08:56 AM. I am going to preface this by saying definetly go with the advice of your agency, but the general guideline I have seen here over the past couple years as well as my experience is that your dossier should be less than a year old at the time you enter PGN. You can never be 100 percent sure of ANYTHING with PGN, but most people seem to be fine even if their docs go over one year after they are in PGN.
Again, your agency should have the final say as they all have slightly different guidelines, but I would suspect they are going to want to you get the doctor's letter and state police letter redone with them notarized. MUCH better to have them corrected now than if they are kicked out of PGN while you are waiting for your child to come home.

How do people get their doctor's reports notarized? Do most doctors have notaries in the office, or do you hire someone to take along to the visit?
Thanks again, Julie |

for our peditrician i used a traveling notary.
for our internist, we are friends, and she got them notarized at a bank for us after work. the traveling notary was easy; i looked them up on the web, chose one local to our area, and he met me at the ped's office. charged me 5 bucks per document. not bad at all!!!

Quote:
You can hire a traveling notary or often if it is a big office, or at least in a big building there is a notary around. Or ask around. Maybe someone you know or work with is a notary and would help you out. After we did dossier number 2, I swore if we ever did one again I would pay a friend to become a notary and follow me around! Good luck! It is such a pain, I know!

We also used a notary that was willing to travel to the doctor's office. She charged us $40 and that was just for one as me and DH have different doctors. His doctor had one that he uses so that one was easy!!!!
Vanessa Missing and Waiting for Arianna PGN please let everyone out!!!!! Resubmitted into PGN on 5/10 after waiting 5 weeks for KO #1 |
