Exclamation post placement stuff

need some advice, please
we got the permanent resident card in the mail today.
we have added dd to our health insurance. they are requesting her social security number.
the permanent resident card and the social security card(when we make one) are all going to refer to dd by her original name.
will it be a hassle to change these, once we get her name officially changed.
how have others handled this?
we live in arkansas and came home on an ir3 visa.
thanks

No I dont think it should be hassle--just take two things with the new names on them...

It's not hard at all. When I put her on the insurance, they wanted her original birth name also, so I did a name change through the courts. You just pay the fees and fill out the form in the court and then publish it for 4 weeks in the newspaper. You'll get a court date and the judge signs the paper. You submit this to your insurance company, SS dept and your pediatrician and then if you want a passport, you can apply with your new info. It just takes time, but it's pretty smooth all in all.

We never received a permanent resident card? We came home on an IR-3 as well. We didn't have to post in the paper either, is that different with each state and/or county? We did do the re-adoption and received a WI birth facts certificate and have applied for a SS number too, that we are still waiting on. They should make this post paperwork much easier.

It is not that big a hassle. (Atleast not for us) We got a social security card and the same day the readoption was done I went into the social security office again and had the name change done. This was on our previously adopted children not on our newest little ones. I am just starting the process. Anna
