We're HOME!
Hi Everyone!
We've been home since Friday and we've had our sweet baby in our arms since last Monday. We couldn't be happier!!! We met so many nice couples while staying at the Marriot and what a wonderful place to stay. The staff there was excellent. They really do anything they possibly can for you. The food was amazing. We got to go to Antigua on Wed...I wouldn't have missed that for anything! Where to begin? Let me start by saying the just about every couple we met and talked with had some adventure during their adoption journey. It seems that most have "bumps in the road" and a quick and painless process isn't not the norm. So those of you still waiting and wondering if your baby will ever be home...YES...they will be!!!! Jonathan was one week short of nine months when we was placed in our arms. He's an extremely happy baby. He sleeps 11 to 12 hours a night...hope it lasts!!! He's napping two times a day. I'm a schedule person and he's loving our schedule...makes for a very happy Mommy! He takes four bottles a day and normally has three meals. We haven't introduced too many foods yet as we're not really sure what he's been exposed to so we're taking that slowly. He went for his Drs visit yesterday. He weighed 20lbs! He was right at the 50% for height, weight, and his head circ. I was amazed that he measured that much on the US charts! Our Pickup trip wasn't without some shockers! We sat down in the lobby to wait for the baby and foster mother to arrive and the girl from our agency said...now keep in mind we've been in Guate for all of two hours!..she said, "Everything looks good but we're missing one document." I'm sitting there like, "HUH?" Do you all remember when we missed our Embassy appointment because someone had forgotten to pick up our PINK Slip??? I know you're all saying..."no not that document...again??!!" I couldn't believe it when she said, "We're missing the PINK slip!" I was sitting there thinking, "I've just left my two sick little girls at home for the first time ever and you're telling me we're going to have to stay away from them longer because of a mistake...again?" So...she said that she felt we would be able to reschedule the appointment from what should have been Tues to Wed and that they would probably issue the Visa the same day. At this point I'm thinking nothing was going to go right. The baby wasn't there yet and we'd been waiting a half an hour. Seems the FM wasn't told where we were stay and she went to the wrong hotel. It was pouring and thundering out. She finally came about two hours late...I know that's how it works down there. When I thought about this first meeting with our baby I was sure I was going to break into tears. Well after waiting for two hours and not having a Pink slip, I think I had lost some of my emotions! I was so happy to have him in my arms but no tears! It was strange, yet it all seemed so right. He was our son and was supposed to be there in my arms. He was wet from the rain, his chest was rattling(that concerned me) and he had just woken up. He still was a happy boy! Well somehow the PINK slip was produced and we went to the embassy as scheduled. All that worrying for nothing!!! The embassy we a breeze. I don't think we were there an hour. Jonathan's cough has calmed down and he's doing beautifully. He smiles at everyone he meets. He has this ear splitting grin that cracks everyone up. His brothers and sisters just love him. The four and five year old sisters beat me to the changing table everytime he needs to be changed. The almost 17 year old brother is always where the baby is, the 22 year old brother calls to see how he is and the oldest brother at 25 thinks he's adorable. I'm so blessed with these wonderful children and Jonathan just fits right in. Even the Dr mentioned how well he's doing and you'd never know he'd just come home. He absolutly knows who Mommy and Daddy are! I'm going to try my first attempt ever at attatching photos...I make no promises that this will work! The first photo is our Embassy Day picture...the famous PINK chair picture! *L* The second one speaks for it's self! I pray that everyone hears good news. Shelly....You will hear something good this week...I just know it!
