Can some of you share your knowledge of the language spoken in Guatemala? Maybe a few basics like thank you, where's the bathroom, do you speak English etc.?
Any help you can give would be great! I figured if I practice now, I might know quite a few things by the time we travel. ![]()

Some of these phrases may be in the travel guide here:
http://www.guatadopt.com/documents/travelguide.pdf. We also bought a pocket size Spanish/English dictionary that included phrases needed for hotels, cabs, etc. Most places we went, we didn't need to use Spanish (Marriott, for example) but we did use some of it when shopping. Love, Shelly

spanish for your babe:)
Here are some for your baby
.Sweet names to call him/her: Precioso/preciosa- or I prefer preciosisima) Mi amorcito corazon Mi rey Mi Princesita Mi vida Muñequita (little doll) Mi cielo (heaven) Or if you want to say "poor little thing": Pobrecita (chiquita bonita, preciosa, etc) WHenever my baby is crying: Qué pasó mi amorcito? Qué te pasó chiquita? (What's wrong sweetie pie?) No llores mi vida (don't cry honey) Ya voy mi amor (I'm coming- like if I am trying to feed her but she is still crying because I am warming up the food etc) Espérame tantito mi amor (just wait a little bit) chupón= binky/pacifier mamila=bottle Do you want your bottle?= quieres tu mamila? pañal= diaper Te cambio tu pañal?= should I change your diaper? juguito/jugo= /who-gee-tow or who-go/= juice qué rico sapito- that is "what a good burp"- sapo actually means "toad" so it's like what a good little toad noise ![]() Te gusta?= means do you like? so you could say Te gusta tu columpio?- swing (go-loom-pee-o) Te gusta tu sillita?- little chair (see-jee-ta) (like the ones that vibrate) Te gusta tu carreola?- stroller Te gusta tu cuna?= crib
