Brown markings on the eyes

I've noticed with latin children that some have, if you look real close, like brown markings on the whites of their eyes. Is this common? What is it?

What a coincidence. We have a friend who adopted a little girl from Peru 14 years ago and she was over here the other day and told both her mother and I that Gabriella and her had the same dark spot on their eye. I wondered if it had something to do with Hispanic children. Does anyone know why this is???? Just curious.

Someone told me it is extra pigment or something to that effect...
I spent the first few days Jacob was home trying to pick them out - thinking it was pepper or something! eek! My poor child!!

Sophia has these too and so does my nephew who is half Korean. My sister took him to the eye doc. He said that the white of our eyes is just a covering and underneath is colored like the colored part and that in some places the white is just really thin and if you have really dark eyes the dark part shows through....

What timely information! We were just planning to ask the doctor during our next visit what this was. Our son's is on the lower part of his eye, well away from the pupil.

Does anyone know if there is any concern? In other words, is this strictly a pigment, or can it result in any eye issues later on?

Matthew has a spot in his eye, too. His Dr. said there is nothing to be concerned about.

Good question! Our 7 y/o little girl has one mark on one eye only and I wondered what it was! Glad it's nothing to be concerned about! Thanks for the info!
