Adoption expenses and fundraiser...
Hi everyone - I think I remember reading a thread a while back about finance concerns and adoption.
We decided to do some fundraising for our second adoption and I wanted to share some of my ideas. If anyone else has any additional ones, please feel free to add them as I'm always interested in new ideas. We had our friends/family provide recipes and I typed and proofread (saved $$) the recipes and submitted them to a company. We're making great profit on the books and they're doing well in our community. We're currently selling them as gift ideas for Easter and Mothers Day, and our community has rallied around us, so they're selling great. Our second fundraiser (which we also did with our son's adoption) is going to be a gigantic yard sale. So many people/family have donated great items to us already. I'm concerned that my vehicle will need to stay out of our garage as the time gets near!! LOL We're looking forward to a successful yard sale. Our yard sale for our first adoption brought in several hundred dollars. We, as a family, have also begun saving change more regularly. We wrap it and deposit it in our adoption bank account immediately.....less temptation to spend it!! We're also considering a bake sale of some sort (pies, cinnamon rolls, etc.). That's something we haven't attempted before, but we're considering it. We always make sure that our flyers indicate that ALL proceeds go directly towards our adoption and that's exactly what happens with the funds. We also like to add a little personal tidbits about our adoption and what part of the process we're in at that time. People like to connect with you....well, most people. I'm not sure how most of you feel about adoption fundraising, but we've had a success with it. It helps with the minor fees that come up here and there, which eventually add up. Happy fundraising to anyone interested! P.S...there are a few wonderful websites for adoptive parents and fundraising. If anyone's interested, PM me and I'll provide you with those. |
